26th DAY OF EID 1440H

After all the planning, the English teachers of SMK Taman Universiti - the present and the past, finally managed to pay Puan Aliah Hussein a visit for Eid at Taman Pulai Perdana. It is not easy to get everyone to gather together at one time and this should already make Puan Aliah's neighbours wonder why was there suddenly there was so much noise from next door.

We had to thank Puan Aliah for playing host again for the get-together, and for tirelessly cooking special dishes for us. We came straight after school and we finished all the scrumptious food on the table which should be some form of compliment to the chef in the house.

Later in the evening, I received a guest, Mr. Binosh. He is an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti of SPM batch 2002. The plan was eventually executed today as he was only available during weekends.

As you can see, it is alright to do Eid visit without being accompanied by any friend. If you wait for a busload, in the end, that is not going to happen.

Three more days to go before Eid celebration will end. I am already thinking of clearing my cookie jars on the dining table.

THE 25th DAY OF EID 1440H

With five more days remaining, the visiting session for Eid continued today.

OPEN HOUSE #1

Dr. Muhammad Nor Harith Ismail [ex-student of  SMK Taman Universiti SPM batch 2005] held the Eid open house at his house in Taman Universiti. I met his parents and two other siblings there too.

OPEN HOUSE #2

Puan Junaidah Ahmad [ex-SMK Taman Universiti SPM batch 2002] invited me to her house in Taman Sri Pulai. Her younger brother was also there, Mr. Amin Ahmad [SPM batch 2006] but one more person could not be seen. I was told she went to search for the cake ordered earlier. Too bad I couldn't eat the cake.

OPEN HOUSE #3

The third invitation was an open house cum birthday party threw by Mr. Hisham Abdullah and Pn. Nurhafizah Zulkifli at their house in Taman Mutiara Rini. I thought I was already late but it so happened I was among the early birds and all the other people who were already there were strangers to me, until two ex-students of SPM batch, Mr. Azry Anuardy and Mr. Luqman Fadzil, arrived.

OPEN HOUSE #4

The last place visited was a bit far away, in Taman Nusajaya, Gelang Patah. It was not actually an open house but the host, Puan Rokiah Junoh, an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, was kind enough to cook special for a few of us.

Pn. Yusidah Yusof and Pn. Mahnum Ali, and Pn. Yusidah's daughter, planned to visit Puan Rokiah and her family for Eid together this time.

That should be a streak of Eid visits done today on the fifth last day of Eid. With a few more days left, there might still be the chance to meet a few more people before the celebration officially comes to its end.

THE 24th DAY OF EID 1440H

It is already the 24th day of Eid, so the race to organize and be invited to open houses is on at the highest level.

Hence, Eid Visit = Eating = Getting Fat

OPEN HOUSE #1

Puan Ida Amiza, an English teacher friend of SMK Mohd. Khalid, held her open house at Bandar Dato' Onn. I couldn't find any familiar faces there though except the hosts. This should be my 3rd of 4th visit to her house. I was here for similar events which involved eating.

OPEN HOUSE #2

I was invited by Mr. Tuan Firdaus Tuan Jaafar, an ex-colleague of SMK Mutiara Rini to his open house at Taman Mutiara Rini. A few ex-colleagues were also there to visit and enjoy the food served.

OPEN HOUSE #3

This was not actually an open house in a large scale which everybody was invited to attend. Puan Mazzelina Mahmood and Mr. Khir had prepared some special food for other visitors to her house too this evening and we were included in the guest's list. It was a brilliant idea to get our photos and boomerang videos taken before everybody else arrived because the house was full of many people right after we had finished eating the main dishes.

I think I have put on some weight after shedding a lot of fat fasting in the month of Ramadhan. And there are still open houses to attend tomorrow.

Please God give me strength.

THE 23rd DAY OF EID 1440H

This should be the last week of Eid celebration hence people are going all out to try to visit as many friends and relatives as possible. I drove to Taman Senai Utama right after school as I was invited by an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti [SPM batch 2005], Puan Khadijah Hishamuddin to her open house. Unfortunately, her husband, Dr. Mohd. Zaki Yunos, who is also an ex-student was not home yet.

Khadijah's dad, Dr. Hishamuddin

After that, later in the evening, Mr. Syazwan Shavarein [ex-SMKTUN batch 2012] came with his parents and siblings. They are one of the few regulars who always come in one big family every year.

Six more days left, and hoping to get to see more people before the Eid celebration ends.

A MINI GATHERING AFTER SCHOOL FOR A RETIREE WANNABE

A few teachers from the Technic and Vocational Department of SMK Dato Jaafar decided to have a mini gathering for a retiree wannabe. Tomorrow would be Tuan Haji Repangi bin Arba'i, the Head of Department, last day in school. When I was invited to join in, I happily agreed.

It was only a short session for a late lunch and coffee for Tuan Hj. Repangi at Secret Recipe in Taman Suria but I hope he would remember this moment throughout his retirement days.

THE 21st DAY OF EID 1440H

A group of ex-colleagues of SMK Taman Universiti were here this evening, at the end of the third week of Eid. There were more people last time but it would be impossible to get everybody to gather at one time.

I had a 4-day break from receiving visitors as I had to be in Segamat with my students, which means I had less time to celebrate.

Thanks everyone for coming on the 21st day of Eid. There is one more week to go for the house visit before it ends.
