BAGAN PAGODA HOPPING TRIP - KYAT SIN THAR UMIN MONASTERY

15th DECEMBER 2019 ~ Near to Shwizegon Pagoda was this place names Kyan Sit Thar Umin, which was a monastery. This was the place where monks stayed to pray and meditate a long time ago. This building was not being used anymore for that purpose as it was not not safe.

The place was dimly lit by the sunlight from outside. The rooms and the passage ways were all small. There were iron beams which gave extra support to the structure of the building inside. There was this damp smell heavily hanging in the air which was not that pleasant. I was worried with the air quality as I had once had lung infection which I suspected happened after visiting a cave during one of my trips, but that was another story.

There were old paintings on the walls and we needed the assistance from the torchlight of the mobile phones to shine some lights to be able to see the fading drawing.

How people could stay here even for a short time is beyond my imagination.

It was such a big relief to be able to get outside with bright light and fresh air.

It was a small place so we just spent a short time to explore. I guess the monks now have better places to stay - at least a place that is equipped with electricity.
