HARVESTING TAPIOCA IN THE GARDEN AND THE END PRODUCTS

My helper, Mr. Eko, was happy to see there were tapioca plants in the garden behind my house. I planted them many years ago but had never dug up any. Only the young leaves of the plants were picked to be cooked and eaten.

The harvest was in abundance and we had had all sorts of tapioca based food prepared in the kitchen.

The tapioca was steamed in Mr. Eko's house.

Meanwhile, my sister had the tapioca fried.

Mr, Eko was kind enough to give me an Indonesian food: grated fried tapioca which was delicious.

We plan to plant more tapioca for the next project in the garden.

HOTEL REVIEW: EMPIRE HOTEL, SUBANG JAYA

I decided to stay in Empire Hotel, Subang Jaya, for one night on 30th April 2025. I had a wedding reception to attend the very next day. [READ HERE]

I used to stay at another hotel in Taipan Area [USJ Section 9] but decided to switch this time. One reason: it was very convenient as I had other meetings with other friends in this area during my stay. [READ HERE and HERE]

The bedroom was clean and spacious. There was a separate section like a kitchenette or work space where you could do your work, prepare drinks, or iron your clothes. The wardrobe was in this area and the iron with the ironing board were already inside.

There was a mall attached to the hotel building so it was very convenient. Then, there was another shopping mall, Subang Parade, within walking distance. The best part was a MRT station was also located nearby.

I don't mind coming back here. In fact, I will be there again these coming weekends for a 2-night stay.

SPOT THE ERROR 209

Using the participle as an adjective.

WRONG: BAKE BEAN.
CORRECT: BAKED BEAN.

HOTEL REVIEW: GRAND ALORA HOTEL, ALOR SETAR, KEDAH

The venue for the 2-day symposium [READ HERE] attended in Alor Setar, Kedah, from 21st-22nd April, 2025, was The Grand Alora Hotel. I was told that this was one new and expensive hotel in the city.

My first impression: the hotel was new alright - the lobby floor was clean and shiny.

My room [shared with another participant] was spacious and commendable. The only comment: the lights were to dimmed and not everyone would fancy to be in the honeymoon vibe throughout his/her stay.

One thing I liked about this place was the weighing machine that could be found in the bathroom. For once I became a health conscious traveler, even though eating would be one of the main agendas.

We had the chance to dine in for breakfast at the hotel's cafe named Lengkuas. Unfortunately, from the point of view of someone who was not that fussy about food, the tastes of the food was below average. Perhaps my expectation was higher when it came to hotel food.

I was glad to have the opportunity to stay there for one night. It was a bit away from the city centre so people without their own transport like me might opt out for other places when in they are in Alor Setar.
