AN UNPLANNED WEDDING RECEPTION IN KUALA LUMPUR OF PEOPLE NOT RELATED TO ME

27TH APRIL 2025    ~ Here I was in Dewan Tun Rahah at Yayasan Tun Razak Building in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, attending an unplanned wedding reception of people who were not related to me. The reason: I was tagging along my [UPM TESL class of 1993] friend, Puan Hayati Burkhan and her husband after attending another reception earlier [READ HERE]. The host was actually a friend of Puan Hayati's husband.

I was truly impressed with the wedding venue. A fully carpeted huge hall which boasted luxury as I entered the dining area. Location wise, the building was situated in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur and not many could afford to hold a reception here.

We were still full from the feast at the first reception attended right before, and at the same time there was not much food left at this place. We could be the few latecomers for the event. I still have to thank Puan Hayati Burkhan and Mr. Amin for taking me to this place, which could be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have doubt I would be setting foot here another time.

ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION OF THE DAUGHTER OF EX-SCHOOLMATE AND COLLEGE EX-COURSEMATE

27th APRIL 2025    ~ I flew all the way to Kuala Lumpur in the morning to attend a wedding reception. The mother of the bride, Puan Noramizah Yusof, is my friend of UPM TESL Class of 1993, while the father, Mr. Fadhil Ma'aris, is my ex-schoolmate of SMS Muar.

The wedding venue was at Villa Busainna Hall in Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur.

I was lucky as another TESL friend, Puan Hayati Burkhan, was also invited to the reception. Mr. Amin, her husband, was kind enough to fetch me at Salak Tinggi Train Station, drove to the wedding venue and then dropped me off at KLCC after that [before I took the train to the airport]. And I had friends to talk to during the event, while enjoying the food.

The only ex-schoolmate I met was Mr. Zainuddin who had arrived earlier.

I got to thank the lovely husband-and-wife friends for their kind though of inviting me to the event.

Hopefully I would be invited again by the family for other receptions in the future.

FOOTNOTE:

*Right after this, I was then taken to another wedding reception by Puan Hayati and Mr. Amin, something which definitely was not in the itinerary list [READ HERE].

**I was back at the same venue for another wedding reception a few days later, on the 1st May [READ HERE].

THE BREAKFAST SESSION WITH AN EX-COLLEAGUE AND HER FAMILY AT SELERA JOHOR

Puan Nor 'Aini Mohd. Nor and her husband was in town. They were attending the Alumni Hi-Tea event at SMK Taman Universiti on Saturday. They came all the way from Nilai, Negeri Sembilan and was staying here for a few days.

A breakfast date was set with them this morning at Selera Johor. This time they were accompanied by their daughter who is currently teaching in SMK Mutiara Rini. We now had more time to chat over breakfast.

Thanks Puan Nor 'Aini and Mr. Abdul Rahman for coming from faraway to attend the gathering. It is always my pleasure to see old friends and meet them for meals, especially now I have a lot of time. Hope to see them again some other time.

ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF MR. MUHAMMAD FAREEZ

10TH MAY 2025    ~ I was invited by another ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, Mr. Muhammad Fareez Fadzillah to his wedding reception. The event was held at the Community Hall at Jalan Kebangsaan, Taman Universiti.

I was one of the early birds. I had to get back to school quickly as there was another event where I was one of the members of the organizing committee.

Unfortunately, I did not get to meet the bride and groom as they would be arriving at the hall later at 1:00 p.m. The best thing was to get myself photographed with the parents of the groom.

Thank you for the kind thought of inviting me to the joyous event. Wishing Mr. Fareez and his newly wedded wife a blessed and joyful life ahead.

ANOTHER FAREWELL LUNCH FOR THE RETIREES AT INFUSION CAFE

Another gathering was held by the teachers and staff of SMK Dato' Jaafar today at Infusion Cafe, KSL. This time it was to bid farewell to two retirees, Puan Norzah Md. Daris and Puan Radziah Hassan.

This was an all ladies' affair as the party was done on a Friday afternoon. All the other men stay far away from the hotel and might not have enough time to get to the hotel for lunch. That should be a valid reason why I looked like I was in the wrong place.

It was still one fun session as for once the ladies were taking control of the karaoke system in the hall and surprisingly there was a lot of hidden talent.

Wishing Puan Norzah and Puan Radziah a stress-free life ahead and may we meet in other events in the future.
