THE EARLIER IMAGES OF DUBAI

Equipped with a map of Dubai, we started our exploration on foot. Not really knowing where to go and what to do, we simply browsed the area nearer to our hotel and discovered a more traditional part of the city.

The water taxi: one of the cheapest means of transportation available for both the locals and tourists. A ride across the river would only cost you one Dirham.

To our delight, we discovered a souk [market] but it was too early to shop so we just had a walk around the place.

There were blocks and blocks of shops, mostly selling women's clothes and fabric, but too bad I did not fancy the materials on display to bring back home for souvenirs. Most probably, people here have different taste when it comes to fabric for the ladies.
