THE 25TH DAY OF EID 1443H

The original plan was just to call the host to ask whether I could pay her a visit for Eid either tomorrow or the day after. However, she insisted that I came to her house today as she was expecting other guests and had prepared special food. Like it or not, I drove straight to Taman Pulai Perdana right after school and was lucky to be the very first visitor to try all the food served on the dining table before everybody else arrived.

Thanks to my ex-colleague, Puan Aliah Hussein [of SMK Taman Universiti], and the ex-student, Miss Rabiah, for the hospitality. Too bad, the other people started to arrive 30 minutes later and we could not continue our gossiping session. And I am still waiting for the selfie pic from the host.

Then, in the evening, my ex-schoolmate of SMS Muar, Mr. Razib Nordin, came to visit. He planned to come earlier but due to some unforeseen circumstances, it had to be put on hold. As he would be going to Singapore to reunite with his family there, today would be the best time to do the Eid visit as the celebration was already getting to its end.

Four more days to go....

Four more days to get fatter 😀

OF A WEDDING RECEPTION AND AN OPEN HOUSE ON A PUBLIC HOLIDAY

15th MAY 2022 ~ When Wesak Day, a public holiday, fell on a Sunday, people took the opportunity to organize social gatherings and functions. Today was the day we went to the wedding reception of the son of the school staff, Puan Hamidah Johar. The event was done at Eco Palledium and this was my third time coming here.

There were many people and we, my colleague, Mr. Wan Mohd Nazri and I saw a few familiar faces among the guests but there was no chance to socialize.

We had to quickly make a move as there was another open house invitation to attend.

The next destination was Taman Pulai Perdana 2 and we went to visit the Eid open house of another colleague of SMK Dato' Jaafar, Puan Saleha Salleh.

As expected, there were other colleagues attending the event so we had more time to mingle and chat. Unfortunately, it was raining cats and dogs, people couldn't get out of the house so we had to stay longer to wait for the rain to stop.

I managed to get away and attend two events outside on the 14th day of Eid. Actually I was also receiving other groups of visitors of home before and going out. This should be the reason for the late update of my Eid activities. Anyway, I think I had already visited more people and attended more open houses this year and I am glad for that.

A FAREWELL GATHERING FOR A FRIEND MOVING OUT FROM SMK TAMAN UNIVERSITI

15TH DECEMBER 2020 ~  A group of male friends/ex-colleagues of SMK Taman Universiti held a farewell gathering to bid farewell to Mr. Muhamad Nur Farhan bin Muhamad Hanafiah, the school's counseling teacher, who will be going back to his home state, Pahang, next year. The venue chosen was Dapur Istimewa at Taman Pulai Perdana for dinner.

13 people were present at the restaurant and we dominated the dining area outside. The dinner did not last that long actually but the chit chat session seemed to be endless. Too bad I had to leave by 11:00 p.m. but only three of us left the place earlier than the rest.

I had never had the chance to work with Mr. Farhan under the same roof. Even though we were not colleagues, we had been some sort of a friend of friends and I got to know him virtually than in real life via Facebook. I know he had contributed a lot to SMK Taman Universiti and it would be a big loss when he is no longer there.

Congratulations Mr. Farhan as his application to be transferred was approved and wish him all the best of luck at his new school.

ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF THE CHILDREN OF PUAN SH. RAHIMATUL HANA

3rd AUGUST 2019 ~ It was a wedding reception for 5 pairs of brides and grooms at Taman Pulai Perdana and a few of them were my ex-students. Puan Sharifah Rahimatul Hana Syed Ali, an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, who had opted out for an early retirement, was very thoughtful when I was still invited to the event. As usual, there were friends and ex-students but I could not take many photos as there were too many people around.

Thanks again Puan Sharifah Rahimatul Hana for the invitation. I was glad to see you again and hopefully there will be time for us to meet up over coffee and chat.

26th DAY OF EID 1440H

After all the planning, the English teachers of SMK Taman Universiti - the present and the past, finally managed to pay Puan Aliah Hussein a visit for Eid at Taman Pulai Perdana. It is not easy to get everyone to gather together at one time and this should already make Puan Aliah's neighbours wonder why was there suddenly there was so much noise from next door.

We had to thank Puan Aliah for playing host again for the get-together, and for tirelessly cooking special dishes for us. We came straight after school and we finished all the scrumptious food on the table which should be some form of compliment to the chef in the house.

Later in the evening, I received a guest, Mr. Binosh. He is an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti of SPM batch 2002. The plan was eventually executed today as he was only available during weekends.

As you can see, it is alright to do Eid visit without being accompanied by any friend. If you wait for a busload, in the end, that is not going to happen.

Three more days to go before Eid celebration will end. I am already thinking of clearing my cookie jars on the dining table.

THE 26TH DAY OF EID 1438H - PART ONE

The English teachers of SMK Taman Universiti, the present and the past, were gathered at Puan Aliah's house at Taman Seri Pulai Perdana on the 26th day of Eid. The quiet house was suddenly filled with gossips and laughter, which definitely was endless.

Thanks to the host for the warmth and hospitality as well as for cooking the delicious dishes for us. I am looking forward to seeing each other again in our next gathering. (attn: Miss Cheong)
