STOPPING BY AT A PIZZA SHOP IN VENICE

20TH OCTOBER 2024    ~ We came across this small pizza shop in between the buildings. The journey from our accommodation in Milan to Venice, the boat ride and the long walk, plus the low temperature sure had made us hungry. We went in and ordered pizza before continuing our exploration.

This pizza outlet seemed to be the only halal food shop that we found when we were there. There could be other restaurants tucked away somewhere in the city.

I don't think the person who manned the shop was either Italian or Turkish.

When in Italy, you must eat pizza like Italians do, at least once. One gastronomic adventure accomplished.

THE GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE AT ASEAN NIGHT BAZAAR, HATYAI

23RD NOVEMBER 2024    ~ On the last night in Hatyai, we went to ASEAN Night Bazaar. We actually walked from Central Hatyai Mall for about 10-15 minutes.

The bazaar was actually another night market which Hatyai was famous for except the stalls were located under one roof and in a permanent structure. On the ground floor, there were stalls selling mostly souvenir items for tourists.

On the second floor was where the gastronomic adventure happened. There were many food stalls selling all kinds of food and I found it difficult to make up my mind of what to eat. The very first challenge was to find vacant seats to dine in at the food court.

The food sold in this area was halal, and this was another popular place among Malaysian tourists.

By the second night in Southern Thailand, we had savoured enough street food and seafood already. And we still had one more day left to enjoy Thai food.

THE BREAKFAST AT BANG HAN RESTAURANT IN HATYAI

23RD NOVEMBER 2024    ~ Again, based on friends' recommendation, we opted to have breakfast at Bang Han Restaurant in Hatyai.

We were there quite early but it was already filled with diners, whom I felt were all Malays from Malaysia.

Most people visiting Hatyai seemed to be eating Dimsum, even for breakfast. Hence, we had to do that too.

For one thing, you should not worry of getting halal/Muslim food in Hatyai. The Southern region is highly populated by Muslims, and halal food is everywhere.

We were already full to walk to the nearby market right after.

THE [HALAL] GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE AT KANSAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

24TH JULY 2024    ~ The first mission at Kansai International Airport was to find this [halal] UDON restaurant I visited back in 2017. Nevertheless, I just could not find it and I found the whole airport was something different from the last time I came.

So I had to hunt high and low for any halal shops in the airport as I was getting hungrier after arriving before the sun rose. I ended up asking the information desk and was told there was only one halal eating place there.

Firstly, I had to go to this lane with the sign TASTY STREET [which I found a bit funny] where there was the food court.

There was a row of stalls selling all kinds of food but there was this only one stall with HALAL FOOD RESTAURANT sign, which should be a big relief for me.

I had a bowl of rice and also a bowl of noodles. Actually I had ordered the wrong food combo. Instead of buying either one, I bought both. I had to choice but to enjoy the last meal in Japan before leaving.

The gastronomic adventure at the airport should wrap up my trip to Kobe, Japan, this time. One thing for sure, I am going to miss all the real Japanese [halal] food after this.
