A DINNER DATE WITH TWO EX-STUDENTS AT AGNEEY'S CUISINE

It was an early dinner date with two ex-students of SMK Taman Universiti [SPM batch 2010]. The chosen venue was Agneey's Cuisine at Taman Tampoi Utama for Indian food.

Mr. Haran Mohanadas just finished his houseman session at Sultanah Aminah Hospital. The last time we met was like 2 years ago in another Indian restaurant in town. As for Ms. Fatihah Tajul Ariffin, she is currently completing her PhD in something related to Chemical Engineering in UTM. The last time I saw her was when she came visiting me with her mom that year I was warded in the hospital.

Mr. Haran ordered a lot of food and the table was full with all kinds of Indian delicacies that I could not remember the names of all the food. I could even sense people looking at us and the feast we were having. Amazingly, almost all the food was successfully consumed within 2 hours.

The place was full of customers all the time we were there - since 4:00 p.m. on a weekday. The air-conditioner was not powerful enough and the food was spicy - but we still stayed there and enjoyed the Indian cuisines spread. Travelling is still not possible at this time so at least this made me feel I was having my meal in Bombay.

As we were eating and chatting, a girl came to our table and introduced herself as a student I taught in SMK Mutiara Rini when she was in Form 4. It is always a pleasure to have an ex-student approach and at least say "hi" to his/her former teacher.

It was getting late and the gathering had to be dismissed for the time being. It was great to get to catch up each other's development and hopefully we could do this meeting again after the fasting month. Thanks Mr. Haran and Ms. Fatihah for the time and company and I am looking forward to another gathering after this.

THE FLOATING CHALET ON LATOH RIVER IN KONG KONG

6th MARCH 2021 ~ The river cruise took us to the floating chalets and restaurant on the river and let us walk around the place to see what was the attractions there. I could see a few people fishing as soon as I got out of the boat.

For people who love fishing, this should a holiday haven for them as they could fish any time they like right in front of their chalets.

If you do not plan to stay the night here, you could just come here to eat at the restaurant.

There are different types of rooms with different rates to choose from.

I do hope that I could spend a night or two here. My greatest worry: to wake up in the morning, floating in the middle of the sea - and not on the river anymore. 😁

WHEN AN EX-SCHOOLMATE WAS IN TOWN

27th MARCH 2021 ~ Mr. Abdul Razak Sapian, an ex-schoolmate [of SMS Muar] was in town. He was in Johor Bahru to attend his niece's engagement ceremony. A date was set so that we could see each other before he went back home to Kuala Lumpur.

As he wanted to get Murtabak [flat bread filled with minced meat] for dinner, the only place I know was Murtabak Kampung Melayu which was near my house. He was accompanied by his son, Mr. Afiq, this time.

It was only a short meeting but it was great to see an old friend once in a while. I am sure Mr. Abdul Razak will be coming to JB more frequently and I am looking forward to many more similar meetings in the future.

HAVING DINNER AT THE MORSO FOR THE FIRST TIME

26th MARCH 2021 ~ The main purpose of the outing today was to visit a friend at her house in Bandar Dato' Onn. To kill two birds with one stone, I asked Mr. Mohd. Khir and Puan Mazzeline to  stop by at The Morso for our early dinner on our way back home.

There restaurants had two separate shops - the air-conditioned and without. To get into the cooler shop, we had to queue up outside but luckily, the line was not long. We were welcomed into the restaurant less than 10 minutes.

FIRST ROUND: we ordered the food tray which contained chicken and lamb chops, salad, fries, meat balls and sausages, and garlic bread with mushroom soup.

We found that the food was tasty and the tray was not big enough so we were ready to order the second round.

SECOND ROUND: Spicy Oglio Olio Spaghetti and Fish and Chips.

Luckily I did not get any tempting cakes from the counter as we were so full but we were contented with the food we order. There is always a next time for the cakes.

And as I was about to leave the place, I heard someone calling my name. There were my ex-students [of SMK Taman Universiti] and their mother having their dinner there too.

Thanks Mr. Mohd. Khir and Puan Mazzelina for the great time, admiring the decor of the restaurant and most importantly, enjoying the food served on the table. We sure will not mind coming back to The Morso again one fine day with other friends.
