MY TEACHER'S DAY PRESENT FINALLY ARRIVED

Today was one lucky day for me indeed as I received this year's Teacher's Day present from an ex-student of SMK Dato' Jaafar. Mr. Muhammad Khairul Syabil was kind and thoughtful enough to present me with the gift even though I only taught him English last year and I had already left school 5 months ago after I retired.

Initially he wanted to see me just for a short while to hand over the present but it would be better to go sit somewhere else and chat. I took him to the nearby Food Fashion restaurant. I at first wanted to get coffee and cakes but there was none on the shelves so I opted for something else.

Thanks Mr. Syabil again for the present. Students come and go, but a student like him would make a teacher remember for a long time. 💗

THE RETIREMENT PRESENTS THAT WERE SENT BY THE COURIER MAN

10TH JANUARY 2024 ~ Two packages were sent by the courier man in the evening. They were the heaviest I had received so far. I was told beforehand by the messenger that he was delivering plants. I therefore had to quickly open the package for the fear that the plants would die because of the lack of oxygen after being kept in the boxes for a long time.

I was truly excited to see 4 bougainvillea plants that emerged from the boxes.

Right the very next morning, it was time to place the flowering plants into the pots. I was lucky in many ways: there was bright sunlight in the morning until afternoon [it had been raining for days before this], there were empty flower pots and I had a few sacks of organic soil.

By noon, mission was successfully accomplished. It is now my turn to pray the plants will grow up healthy.

It was a relief I found the note in one of the boxes so I did not have to guess or ask around who the sender was.

Thanks a lot Puan Sharon Taty Mokhtar, a friend of UPM TESL Class of 1993, for the surprise retirement presents. Only Allah may repay your kindness.

THE UNEXPECTED RETIREMENT PRESENT THAT ARRIVED IN SCHOOL

I was notified by the security guard [of SMK Dato' Jaafar] that a parcel arrived in school, yesterday. I wondered who was sending as I didn't remember buying anything online.

Only today I managed to collect the parcel from her. It was an unexpected retirement present from an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, who is actually more like a sister to me now.

Thanks a lot Puan Rokiah Junoh for taking the trouble to send me the parcel. May Allah repay your generosity.

MY TEACHER'S DAY PRESENT ARRIVED TODAY

Someone came to my room this morning and delivered a Teacher's Day present. Although Teacher's Day was celebrated about 6 months ago, it is still better late than never.

Thanks Mr. Shafiy Eddin for the kind thought, even though I only taught him English for one year when he was in form three. This gift is significant as this should be the only Teacher's Day present I received for the year 2021.

TESTING MY NEW TOY

My friend sent me a new toy last month. It was finally the time to unbox the package for me to use the electrical appliance  .

I had a few packets of Dim Sum given by my niece in the refrigerator and someone would have to [cook and] eat it all.

The Dim Sum was delicious but the mini steamer was a very big help for someone who gets into the kitchen to just boil water and fry eggs. The steaming was fast and the most important thing, it was easy to clean the gadget after use. I am so ready to "cook" other food again.

Thanks again Puan Sakinah Mohd. Ismail, an ex-coursemate of UPM TESL 1993, for the present and I promise I will put it to good use.

MY COLLECTIBLES - TUPPERWARE PRODUCTS

One of the things people do during the MCO [Movement Control Order] period is spring cleaning. I do that and it seems there are just too many things to throw away, sort out and the process is just endless. And today, I managed to get my Tupperware containers, tumblers and jug reunited eventually.

I do not buy Tupperware products except for that one huge water container and dispenser, and the cases where one could store his/her onions, shallots, garlic etc. All the items you see in this post are all given as presents to me in different occasions and functions - hence the variety of shapes, sizes and colours. Teacher's Day, Farewell Gathering, Eid presents, door gifts during annual lunch and lucky draws - Tupperware products seem to be very popular give away items. I nowadays buy Tupperware products as wedding presents when invited to any receptions.

There is this one of Youtube videos which I love and never get tired of watching. The moral of the story:
Never lose your mother's Tupperware, ever.

My hard work paid off in the end, when all the Tupperware pieces were all reunited.

MY COLLECTIBLES - TEACHER'S DAY PRESENTS [PART 1]

Eid is coming. I took the effort to clear some of the clutter in the display cupboard at home which contained presents received and accumulated during Teacher's Day. I used to giggle and laugh every time opening the small packages and I couldn't believe that after may years, I still have them safely kept. I guess I miss the good old days every time I celebrate Teacher's Day in my two (new) schools.

It is true after all it is the thought that counts.

I am now thinking of either opening a museum or having a car boot sale when I retire.
