EID DIARY: 21ST SYAWAL 1446H - PART ONE

20TH APRIL 2025    ~ The next mission of my trip to Segamat this time, after attending the wedding reception in Felda Redong 1 [READ HERE], was to visit an ex-schoolmate/ex-classmate of Budiman SMS Muar who is still recuperating.

I was welcomed by Puan Rozana Ab. Manap and her husband to her house in Taman Gunung Emas 2 in Tangkak on the 21st day of Eid, even though I had been planning to visit her much earlier.

It was a pleasure to get to see an old friend and was glad that she was back on her feet again. I am sure she will get much better when I come to see her next time.

ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION IN BUKIT GAMBIR

13th JULY 2019 ~ I was in Sungai Mati for the state level chess competition. Coincidentally, a colleague of SMK Dato Jaafar was having her brother's wedding reception in Bukit Gambir, which was not that far away. I managed to get someone to drive me there from the competition venue, hence two birds were again killed with one stone.

We arrived at the hall in our team jerseys which should have caught the attention of the other guests but we just did not have any choice. The event was held at the school of SK Simpang Lima Pekan, Tangkak.

We were among the early birds and there were not many people in the hall yet. Food was aplenty and I was free to walk around and take photos.

There were extra tents outside for the guests and booths for other food like fried noodles and "Jamal Kunto".

sweet/spicy groundnuts gravy

Thanks to my colleague, Puan Norhidayah Othman, for inviting and I was glad that I had made it to the reception. I have doubt I will be invited and attending another wedding reception in Bukit Gambir again.

MSS JOHOR CHESS FESTIVAL 2011 - DAY THREE

LAST DAY ~ 10TH APRIL

JB Chess Team members in action

during the prize-giving ceremony

the districts' technical officers

JB teachers' theme of the day: blue

celebrating Encik Aziz's birthday

JB team (with a few members already missing)

with Bhoo Zhan Hui, our SMKTUN's hero who won the 4th prize for the under 18th category

Irfan, whom I have seen growing since he was primary school

On the last day of the competition, I still had to make myself busy by taking more photos. Luckily it was just a half-day event. After round 7, it was the prize-giving ceremony and the JB team secured the second place which was good considering the fact that we did not have strong players if compared to previous years. Then, it was time to bid Tangkak farewell and that was the end of the chess competition for the year 2011. As for the JB team players, until we meet again next year.
