JOHOR SCHOOLS STATE LEVEL CHESS COMPETITION 2023

The Johor Schools State Level Chess Competition was held from 8th to 10th August 2023. Mersing had been chosen as the host of the competition and it was held at SMK Anjung Batu. We had been here before for the same reason twice if I am not mistaken.

I was always excited to go out to other district with the team members and to see old friends and spend more time with them.

Congratulations to Johor Bahru team on winning the competition for three consecutive years. Thanks to all the team members who had been working together since the district level competition last June.

As for me, this could be my very last official duty with the team but will still come and join them if I am invited next year. I had been with the team for many years and it was the experience and friendship that I valued the most.

This should be the end of the 3D2N stay in Mersing for the State Level Chess Competition 2023.

It has been a fun-filled time meeting old friends again, especially during the in-between games gastronomic adventures and meeting an ex-student as well, twice.

Hopefully I could still be with the Johir Bahru Chess Team again next year, if I am invited.

STATE LEVEL CHESS COMPETITION 2022 IN SEGAMAT

The State Level Chess Competition for Johor was held in SMK Seri Kenangan, Segamat, from 16th - 18th August. The competition was held at the same place in 2015, and surprisingly I couldn't remember much about it. [READ HERE] and [HERE].

The Johor Bahru team consisted of 24 players and 10 accompanying teachers.

It was finally the last day of the competition for the last two rounds before the winners would be announced.

I could not get everyone to be photographed for the category sections as everyone seemed to be all over the place and I must have got tired already. I could not even get the group photo of the teachers this time. 😔

Then it was the time everybody was waiting for: the prize-giving ceremony.

Johor Bahru team was crowned the overall champion for the Johor State Level Competition 2020.

Congratulations to everybody who had made it possible for the trophy to return home to Johor Bahru district again after many years.
