ANGKLUNG GROUP'S FIRST PERFORMANCE OUTSIDE SCHOOL FOR THE YEAR 2016

We were invited (again) to perform for UTM SPACE Dean's List Award for the first session of the UTM Convocation this year, The event was held at Convention Centre at "Fakulti Alam Bina" [translate: Build Environment Faculty], Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

The school's "nasyid" [group singing religious songs] was also invited to perform for the event. The more the merrier.

We first had to perform during the intermission during the award ceremony and later, while the guests were having their tea.

Everything went well I suppose, even though one of the members could not take part at the very last minute.

Thanks to the Dean of SPACE UTM, Dr. Mohd. Fua'ad Rahmat, for inviting us again for the Award Ceremony and all the SPACE staff for accommodating us. Hopefully we will see each other again some other time in the near future.

Congratulations to all the Angklung Group members for the performance. By now you should know how hard work is really important in whatever you are doing. Let's hope for other invitations after this.

PERFORMING FOR ANOTHER UTM SPACE AWARD CEREMONY FOR FRANCHISE PROGRAMME

25TH OCTOBER 2015 ~ Right after the UTM SPACE award ceremony at "Rumah Alumni" that ended at about 5:00 p.m., we had to quickly make our way to another venue, the Banquet Hall at Chancellor Building, for another award ceremony. This time it was for UTM SPACE franchise programme.

We just had a short practice, changed into our "Baju Melayu" after the Maghrib prayer at the mosque and were ready for the next show by 8:00 p.m.

We were lucky indeed to be able to perform at three different events organized by UTM SPACE in conjunctions with the university's convocation ceremony. We would like again to thank Prof. Dr. Mohd. Fua'ad Rahmat for giving us the opportunity to be there and may the audience had been entertained by our presence.

PERFORMING AT "DEAN'S LIST AND MEDAL AWARD CEREMONY OF UTM SPACE DIPLOMA PROGRAMME"

25th October 2015 ~ This was the second performance of the three similar events that were organized by UTM SPACE in three different venues and times in conjunctions with the university's convocation. On Friday, SMKTUN's Angklung Group performed at UTM SPACE part-time for bachelor degree programme. This afternoon, it was the diploma full-time students and the ceremony was held at Rumah Alumni UTM.

The crowd had obviously enjoyed our performance based on the thunderous applause received at the end of each song. And we had to be ready for the next event which would start right after this at 8:00 p.m. The first ever we had to do a back-to back performance, with a very short break in between.

ANGKLUNG PERFORMANCE DURING THE 'DEAN'S LIST AND AWARD CEREMONY' OF UTM SPACE

23RD OCTOBER 2015 ~ The SMKTUN Angklung Group was invited to perform during the "Dean's List and Award Ceremony" of SPACE UTM, in conjunctions with the convocation event. This was our second time being involved in an event like this. We were also invited by the same organizer last year.

This time, the ceremony was held at the hall in Kolej Tun Fatimah, UTM.

All the photos were taken by the audience and whatsapp-ed to me. We did not have our own photographer on that day so the photos are quite limited. Thanks to all the (unexpected) contributions.

I would like to personally thank Dr. Mohd. Fua'ad Rahmat, the Dean of UTM SPACE, for giving us the chance to perform, not only in one, but three award events organized. There will be two more for us to shake our angklungs tomorrow and we are all very excited for the moment to arrive.

ANGKLUNG PERFORMANCE DURING A CONVOCATION EVENT FOR UTM SPACE

23rd May 2014 ~ We were invited to perform during a Convocation Event for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia SPACE. The graduates were awarded with the Dean's list and various other prizes were also given to the invited guests. It was held at the new library: "Perpustakaan Raja Zarith Sofia" which is not in operation yet.

We had to perform during the award ceremony which was just a short one where we played just one song "Fantasia Bulan Madu", a Malay song made popular by the rock band Search.

There was also a "Zapin" dance performance in between sessions.

After that, we played a few songs at the dining hall while the VIPs and guests were enjoying their food.

Thanks Mr. Faiz and Mr. Afiq, ex-angklung players of SMKTUN, who came to give support and help take photos.

Everything went well and I felt that all the hard work that we have put since early January has paid off. Hopefully we will have more opportunities to perform outside after this. 

I would like to personally thank Mr. Amirul Husni Shaarin, an ex-angklung player of our school and now a staff of UTM SPACE, who had helped to promote the group to the people in-charge of the event. Without his help, we would not be able to play our music during the prestigious event.

As for the angklung players, this is not the end yet. We have to keep on practising.
