THE END OF THE DAMANSARA SHORT GETAWAY

The lunch at Mee Tarik Warisan Asli at KLIA2 marked the end of the end of the short getaway in Damansara for 3D2N.

The reason this restaurant was chosen was that I needed a place where there were not many people so I could stay there for a long time. I arrived too early in the afternoon for my flight scheduled at 9:00 p.m.

The last time I had Mee Tarik at this restaurant [at another branch in Johor Bahru] was in 2021 [READ HERE]. It was the usual taste of Mee Tarik and Bao Bao Tea, but I had somewhat forgotten whether the taste of the broth was similar, or was it better last time.

After all the long wait, as I had passed the security checkpoint, then only I saw the notification on the electronic board informing my flight was delayed for 40 minutes. There was no update on the big electronic board outside, and even on the AirAsia apps it was still stated the flight was still on time. The airline company should have made the necessary update for the passengers. As in my case, I had to say "goodbye" to a friend at the terminal earlier after chatting for less than 10 minutes. This was actually a bad ending for my short getaway this time.

GOING CHINESE AT MITSUI OUTLET PARK

   28TH APRIL 2024    ~ Mr. Rdiwan Wahid and I decided to get our early dinner before sending me to KLIA2 to catch my flight home. He suggested we go Chinese at this restaurant called Mee Hiris and I happily agreed.

I had Beef Mee Tarik [TRANSLATE: traditional Chinese noodles made by pulling the dough into noodle strings] but I was not sure what my friend was having.

Before entering the restaurant, someone softly called out: "Cikgu.. Cikgu" [TRANSLATE: teacher] and it was an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, Mr. Muhammad Faiz Zulkifli. He was there with his friend, also catching his flight but to Penang.

The dinner at the Chinese restaurant concluded my weekends getaway this time, covering the area of Bangi, Kajang, Kuala Lumpur, Seremban, Dengkil and Sepang.

GOING CHINESE WITH MY TESL FRIENDS IN USJ

    29th SEPTEMBER 2023     ~ When I was in USJ with the main itinerary of attending a wedding reception, a gathering comprising of a few members of UPM TESL class of 1993 took place at the popular Mee Tarik Jalan Sultan Restaurant.

There was already a huge crowd in the eating place when we arrived. Luckily we managed to secure three tables for ourselves and the kids and husband who tagged along.

The variety of Halal Muslim Chinese cuisines were served on the dining table and each individual seemed to have his/her own preference as no one ordered the same food.

Someone however arrived at the restaurant as we had already finished our dinner.

Because of that, the gathering was extended to the Mamak Restaurant which was just opposite.

Thanks to all my friends who had come for the dinner from places around KL/USJ, Bangi and Putrajaya. Thanks to Puan Hazlina Aziz for paying. We should do this again I come back to Kuala Lumpur/Selangor in November.

GOING CHINESE FOR THE CNY WEEKEND

Most of the time, it was not easy to choose what to eat so I suggested we go Chinese, as it was a Chinese New Year weekend break. My ex-schoolmate agreed so we met at Mee Tarik Warisan Asli in Bandar Baru Uda, a restaurant which served halal Chinese food.

It was my first time eating the Curry Mee here but I wished the gravy could be thicker and there were more food items inside the bowl for me to fish while eating. However, the bowl was real big and the generous quantity of noodles could last me through dinner.

I love the Bao Bao Tea the most.

And we had dumplings for dessert. 😀😀

Now that people are allowed to dine in at restaurants, I guess there will be more gastronomic adventures to come - but by abiding all the SOP and choosing not a crowded eating place.

MY HOMETOWN GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - GOING CHINESE FOR LUNCH

There was another meeting/briefing session outside school today and lunch was not provided. It should be a good time to revisit "Mee Tarik Warisan Asli" which was near to the venue of the meeting/briefing in Bandar Baru Uda. I managed to get Mr. Muhammad Afif Farhan Zulkifli to join me (SMKTUN batch 2010) who also happened to be at that area during lunch time.

Food was good. I always like eating here as especially the noodles were freshly hand-made - twirled and pulled and then tossed into boiling hot water upon order. And the Bao Bao Tea was something which was rejuvenating. 

We also tried the huge plate of dumplings. I wouldn't mind coming back here but have to get more adventurous and try other dishes other than my regular bowl of beef noodles soup. Or perhaps I should try other Chinese Muslim restaurant in town.

MY HOMETOWN GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - GOING CHINESE FOR LUNCH

27th AUGUST 2018 ~ After the workshop session at SMK Mutiara Rini, the English teachers (who happened to be my ex-colleagues) and I, decided to eat out instead of the usual canteen food. 

We headed to Mee Tarik Warisan Asli restaurant in Mydin Taman Mutiara Rini, going Chinese for lunch. I was glad we chose this place as a few of them had never tried the food here. I had had the famous beef noodles before at other branches though.

It was good to meet some familiar faces and do some catching up. It is not easy to set up a gathering even though there are plans to do so, and this should be considered a success. Guess we all enjoyed both the food and the company. We should do this again some other time.

AN IMPROMPTU PLAN TO MEET WHICH WAS EXECUTED WELL

It was Mr. Ridwan's impromptu plan to visit JPO but the timing was just right. So I rushed to JPO from home at 5.30 p.m. so as to avoid the heavy traffic on EDL Highway. Johor Premium Outlet seems to be an easy meeting place for me and my friends when they come to Johor.

After Maghrib prayer, we decided to hop to another nearby shopping mall, AEON Kulai, as there would be more choices of places for dinner.

Mr. Ridwan and family chose Mee Tarik Warisan Asli, and that was their very first visit to the Chinese Muslim Restaurant.

By 9:30 p.m., we had to part ways. They drove all the way from Melaka, spent a few hours in Kulai, and rushed back there right after.

Thanks a lot for the time and the company, and the noodles too. It is always my pleasure to meet up with friends of UPM TESL class of 1993.
