KHATAM AL-QUR'AN CEREMONY IN SCHOOL

Friday, 28th July, 2013 ~ The annual event of "Khatam Al-Qur'an" was held in school. It was to mark the success of the school community to finish reading the holy book of Koran. Much earlier, starting from the first week of Ramadhan, Muslim students and teachers had divided and read through pages of Koran together("tadarrus").

THE "TADARRUS" SESSION

THE "KHATAM" CEREMONY

During the ceremony, we first recited the last few "surah" (chapters) of the Qur'an, followed by the prayer recitation. Then, souvenirs were given away to students who had taken part in the "tadarrus" session and lastly, donation was given to unfortunate students for the Eid celebration.

This should be the last school activity for the month of Ramadhan before we all go for our long break to celebrate Eid. How time flies. We are now already one week away from the first day of Eid. So many things yet to be done and so little time. *sigh*

KHATAM PROGRAMME IN SCHOOL

NOTE: PICTURES COPIED FROM PN. YASIRAH'S ALBUM ON FACEBOOK

FRIDAY, 10th AUGUST 2012 ~ The month of Ramadhan is surely moving real fast. One of the regular activities that had been completed was the "tadarus" (reading thoroughly) Al-Qur'an by the staff and students. To mark this occasion, a "khatam" (closing) ceremony was carried out for both the morning and afternoon sessions (but done separately)

the reading of "surah lazim" (common verses)
prayer recitation
donation and prize-giving ceremony
distributing the "Al-Mathurat" to the students involved in "Tadarus"
Hopefully all the things that had been done in school would contribute to our effort in guiding students towards the right path in life. May we all be blessed by Allah the Almighty for our good deeds in the holy month of Ramadhan.

TADARUS AL-QUR'AN PROGRAMME FOR TEACHERS AND STAFF

This is one programme carried out for the school community in conjunction of the holy month of Ramadhan which involved the students, teachers and staff. The afternoon session teachers came earlier at 11:30 a.m. and recited the Qur'an where we were divided into groups and assigned a certain juzu' [something like a chapter] to be read.

There will the Khatam [closing ceremony] of this activity after this, together with the Iftar (breaking fast) in two weeks time.

RAMADHAN PROGRAMME - TADARUS

During the month of Raamdhan, Moslems are encouraged to read the holy Qur'an and one of the best ways to carry out this activity is to do it groups. Today, we had the tadarus event - where we read and supposedly checked other friends' recitation of the verses. As the school has many teachers, we were divided into 15 groups and there were about 5 - 6 people in a group. Each group was assigned to read two juzuk (like chapters) of the Qur'an, and in a way the content of the whole Qur'an was equally divided and read by everybody.

I am blessed that I have the opportunity to carry out spiritual activities in school apart from conducting the core responisbility of teaching, and also the encouraging support given by fellow colleagues.
