THE FIRST SMK TAMAN UNIVERSITI OFFICIAL ALUMNI GATHERING 2018 [PART ONE]

On the 7th of July 2018, the very first official alumni gathering was held at SMK Taman Universiti. Old students (a.k.a the alumni) and teachers of the present and the past were invited to attend the event, and the committee members had put in a lot of hard work to ensure the success of this reunion.

I was there to join in the moment classmates, teachers, friends and colleagues got to see each other again. I was a bit occupied with the Angklung Group and had the chance to meet only after the performance.

I only realized that I had met with quite a number of ex-students when I looked through the photos that had been taken throughout the event. I could still recognize majority of them (thanks to Facebook) and remember their names.

Miss Aqilah came all the way from Penang for the reunion but she was too late for the event. Nevertheless, I was really happy to see her again after all these years.

This should be one of the happiest moments for everyone present.

Looking back at these photos could bring tears to my eyes. *drama*

MOVIE REVIEW - MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT

Many people go to the cinema just to see Tom Cruise again on the screen. Some say Cruise never ages - he stays young forever. Nevertheless, try to focus on his neck rather than his face and you can see that he actually has grown old, just like others.

Anyway, this is one movie you should go and watch. The actions were just endless, and you will be clutching the seats even though you know that hero never dies. One thing I learn for sure is when you are flying a helicopter and then your machine is struck by bullets, or the engine caches fire, you must quickly say: "No! No! No!"

I was just hoping Cruise could quickly get the remote at the end of the movie and save the world. Too much prolonged suspense and I am sure there were people in the audience who needed to rush to the bathroom after that.

Rotten Tomato gives five-star review for this movie. You will all get easily entertained with abundance of actions and fights (read: violence)? I must admit, I did.

JOHOR BAHRU DISTRICT LEVEL CHESS COMPETITION (SECONDARY SCHOOLS) 2018

D A Y   O N E

The Johor Bahru District Chess Competition for Secondary Schools were held on the 4th and 5th JULY 2018, at SMK Gelang Patah. This was the second time for the school hosting the competition, for two consecutive years.

I was there as one of the committee members of the organizing team, as well as chaperoning the boys of SMK Dato' Jaafar.

As usual, I met some familiar faces, especially those from SMK Taman Universiti.

Glad that I could still be there to help around. It is always a pleasure to be within the circle of friends you know who are very committed and hardworking.

BOYS' DAY OUT

I had not had the time to pamper myself for a movie treat as fasting and Eid months had made me too occupied. However, today I managed to get away from all the busy routines, even though things did not go well as we had planned earlier. I should have left school at 2:00 p.m. but the event only finished by 3.30 p.m. I drove to AEON Bukit Indah and the traffic was clear, and reached there 20 minutes later. We almost missed the screening of the movie as the time was not that suitable - or we would have to perform our Maghrib prayers.

We still chose the 5:15 p.m. slot and managed to go for our prayer once the movie ended. We even had had our coffee before and dinner right after the show.

Thanks Mr. Hamzah Hamdan [SMKTUN alumni SPM batch 2006] for the time and company. We (note the pronoun "we") still have one more set of movie tickets to redeem soon.
