THE SHORT BRUNCH SESSION AT AEON PERMAS JAYA

I needed to get my [new] car tinted somewhere in Permas Jaya. That would require about two hours of waiting so Mr. Faiz suggested that we went to get brunch at AEON Permas Jaya which was nearby.

Even though I had been to the mall many times, I had never had any meal at the food court there.

I decided to try the food from the AEON kitchen: rice and beef dendeng [sliced meat cooked in chili and spices], and it was good. The portion of the meat is big but the price was still reasonable.

I regret coming here as I will after this go back to this place at least to get its Teh Tarik. Mind you, these days it is not easy to get a good glass of Teh Tarik.

THE FIRST BLOOD DONATION SESSION FOR THE YEAR

There was a blood donation drive being held at AEON Permas Jaya. As it was already time for me to give away some of my blood, then I went there in the afternoon.

Everything was over in less than an hour.

Since the event was held in the mall, I was expecting better door gifts for donors. However, I was wrong. It was the usual food/drinks packet given if I go to the hospital.

I decided to reward myself with Teh Tarik and Butter & Kaya Toast at Old Town White Coffee Cafe in the mall. I needed instant food for energy to replace the blood lost. 😀

THE POST WEDDING RECEPTION GATHERING

16TH SEPTEMBER 2023     ~ After the wedding reception [READ HERE], my friends/ex-colleagues decided to extend the meeting somewhere else. Initially we wanted to go this one cafe but it was closed when I reached the place. The next best option was to go AEON Permas Jaya which was nearby.

There was not much choice at the mall so we just settled for OldTown.

The food was actually quite good. The one that I loved the most was actually its Teh Tarik and I now know where to go to when the craving arises.

Thanks to all my ex-colleagues of SMK Taman Universiti for all the updates [READ: GOSSIPS] during the short time spent. We should do this again especially next year when I have a lot of time to spend.

MR. BIG BAD WOLF IS BACK IN TOWN

9th APRIL 2021 ~ I needed to get something from AEON Bandar Dato' Onn and someone I met earlier mentioned that there was the Big Bad Wolf Book Fair held at the same venue. I had to stop by and see if there would be anything to get hold of but I kept reminding myself that I still had books at home which had remained untouched for quite some time.

The Book Fair was held at the Food Court area which is now no longer operating [because of the C-19 Pandemic].

The temptation was too great to resist so I went home with just 5 books which cost me slightly over RM50. I successfully returned back a few books and chose the ones that I think I would read. Or perhaps the ones that I would read later when I have retired. 😊

SAYING "HI" AND "BYE" AT AEON BANDAR DATO ONN

I always think by wearing a face mask and a hat could prevent me from being detected, and most of the time I am wrong. I was at AEON Bandar Dato' Onn late this afternoon as I had to buy something. As I was about to leave the mall, then I saw a familiar face - and that person seemed to still recognize me. Guess it was just apt to stop, say "hi" and had a very short update of ourselves. It must be a very long time since I last saw an alumnus of SMK Taman Universiti of SPM batch 2009 (I think), who was an active member of the school's Kadet Bomba. Thanks Mr. Mohd. Fazreen for stopping and having a very brief chat. It sure was a pleasure to see an ex-student who is now already an adult - which makes me feel so old. 😁

MEETING A STATE/NATIONAL LEVEL CHESS PLAYER ONCE A YEAR

2nd AUGUST 2018 ~ This meeting was a once-in-a-year affair when Mr. Hanis Hanafi came home for his semester break from India. Not the regular students whom I taught in class or from the school I was in, we were related as we went to state level chess competitions almost every year last time, representing Johor Bahru district.

We met in Secret Recipe at AEON Bandar Dato' Onn which is near to our homes. I find this mall as a conducive venue for any meeting with friends/ex-students.

By the time this post is published, Mr. Hanis is already back in India. Good luck Hanis in your new semester and hope to see you again when you come home next year.

MY VERY FIRST TIME AT AEON BANDAR DATO' ONN

7th AUGUST 2018 ~ Finally, I set my foot inside one of the newest shopping malls in Johor Bahru, AEON Bandar Dato' Onn.  I immediately fell in love with this place because it was still shining new and there were very few people around.

Everybody's favourite shop is here

The best part of it is there is a huge surau (praying place for Muslims) in the mall - much bigger than the one in Bukit Indah. I went to the room on the ground floor but, to my delight, there was ANOTHER surau on the second floor near the entrance of AEON outlet.

the waiting space outside the surau/washroom

Once the cinema start operating, I am sure there will be more people going there.

I am definitely coming back as there are many restaurants located in the building. This should be a good meeting/hanging out place.

GOING KOREAN FOR A LATE LUNCH AFTER SCHOOL

We suddenly decided to go Korean for a late lunch right after school. Last minute plan sometimes worked well. We made our way to AEON Bandar Dato' Onn as there is this Korean restaurant named Dubuyo.

Puan Mazzelina Mahmood and Puan Rumaiah Hasan always live up to the group's motto: "If you want to get fat, let's get fat together".

MY VERDICT: I don't have much experience eating Korean food, but they tasted Korean enough to me. I loved all the food ordered and served on the table even though I did not remember all their names (except the peach tea drink). This was my first time here but definitely NOT the last one.

I will have to visit Korea, the country, again one more time.
