THE 15th DAY OF EID - A TESL UPM CLASS 1993 GATHERING IN KUALA LUMPUR

A few people from TESL UPM class of 1993 decided to meet up at Mid Valley Mega Mall in Kuala Lumpur. We were there to see Mr. Ahmad Yasir Che Ngah who came back to Malaysia for a short holiday from San Diego, USA. A few of us first met at Starbucks Mid Valley and waited for more people to arrive. Then only we moved to the adjoining shopping mall, the Gardens for the real chit chat session.

Basically what we did were chatting, eating, taking photos, chatted some more, continued eating and took more photos. And our beloved lecturer, Dr. Fauziah Hasan, was there too despite the short notice given prior to the meeting. The short reunion lasted for like 4 hours before we all parted ways. I was quite sure the staff at PappaRich Restaurant were relieved to see us finally stand up to go home.

I think we should have this kind of gathering soon and try to get more people to join.

As for the guest of honour, we hoped that you had had a great time. Perhaps we (or I) will chat with you some more in San Diego later (date and time not specified).

THE 14th DAY OF EID 1436H

A group of 15 ex-students from SPM batch 2010 and one from batch 2011 came visiting. With 16 boys in the house at the same time, there was never a moment of silence, except when they were munching their food. Now that they are already driving, visiting could always be done late in the evening.

These people seem to be still keeping in touch and meeting each other regularly even though they are all not studying/working at the same place. Let's see how many more years the annual Eid get together is going to last for this group.

THE 12th DAY OF EID 1436H

28th July 2015 ~ Puan Khairul Bariah Mansor and her daughter were here for Eid, all the way from Virginia, USA. The last time they were back in Malaysia was in 2013 and it was a pleasure to welcome them again at my humble abode.

Too bad they could not stay that long so I supposed we would continue the gossip later in Virginia, the exact time and date unknown.

THE 11th DAY OF EID 1436H

27th July 2015 ~ The guests of the evening comprised of 4 ex-students of SMKTUN from SPM batch 2006. Miss Fatihah, who is now working as a nurse, came all the way from Kuala Lumpur and has been one the regulars despite the distance that separates us. Puan Insyirah was here accompanied by her husband who is also an alumnus of the school, for the first time, while someone else came visiting for the second time - to be in the company of friends.

Now, who else has not come visiting yet?

THE 10th DAY OF EID 1436H

27th JULY 2015 ~ Puan Raja Ainurraziyah and her children who were the ex-students of SMKTUN came visiting today. Ustazah (the title given to a teacher teaching Islamic Education) is at the moment enjoying her retiring days. I had taught all the kids, either in school or in tuition class - Miss Nurul Izzah (SPM batch 2005), Mr. Izwan (SPM batch 2007), Miss Nurul Izyana (SPM batch 2009) and Mr. Izuddin (SPM batch 2012). It was indeed an honour to have almost all the family members in the house at the same time for Eid celebration.

Eid ul-Fitr gift *yeay*

The guests who arrived late in the evening, at about 11:00 p,m., were my ex-students from SPM batch 2006, and two of them were tagged by their wives. The group had become smaller but everything that never dampened the spirit and joy of Eid.

I am expecting more number of people who will be coming to my house next year - if you know what I mean.

THE 9th DAY OF EID 1436H

The three siblings were here in the afternoon - Mr. Solleh, Mr. Zahari (both from SPM batch 2006) and Mr. Syahir (from SPM batch 2012).  They had to be here today as two of them would be going away to work and college somewhere else.

The next big group arriving after that consisted of my ex-students from SPM batch 2009. A few of them are still studying while the rest are already working. These are some of the regular visitors to my house during Eid since they were still in lower secondary.

In the evening, I decided to visit Pn. Noraliza Mazni, a colleague from SMKTUN, who was holding an open house at Taman Pulai Utama. The event was a joyful one because, besides all the delicious food,  I got to meet more old friends and ex-students there.

20 more days to celebrate Eid, and there should be more people to meet.
