MOVIE REVIEW - "THOR: THE DARK WORLD"

Thor was very strong and he had this magic hammer that could destroy almost anything and everything. Basically that was it. Nevertheless in this sequel to the first Thor movie, there was more than meet the eyes. Siblings rivalry between Thor and his brother, Loki, was still going on audience would have been deceived by Loki's cunning plan to secure the throne. You have to watch this, and it recommended for young viewers and especially the die-hard fans of Marvel comics superheroes. The violence level is moderate, parents should not worry. And if you wait a bit, you can view a short teaser/trailer and the Thor series will continue for sure.

MOVIE REVIEW - "AVENGERS"

Finally, I went to watch "Avengers" on my own after being unsuccessful and had watched other movies instead for two times in a row. The show started at 10:30 p.m., I was sitting in row B seat number 10 and I had the whole row to myself - heaven. Why is it important to watch a Marvel Superheroes' movie? Because it makes one feel younger (I believe I am still young) again. I did not read Marvel comics much when I was little but I did watch the cartoon series a lot on TV all the time when life was much simpler back then.

In this film, the villain was Loki, the evil adopted brother of Thor. I had watched "Thor" the movie but I did not expect this could be some sort of a sequel from that. So all the superheroes were united to fight Loki and his ally. Other than Thor, there were the Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Ironman, Hawkeye and the only female character in the team was Black Widow. They should include my favourite all time heroine, Wonder Woman, in the team. Black Widow and Hawkeye were kind of new to me, I had no idea who they were actually so it was a kind of initiation to me. The rest were people I was familiar with (it sounds as if they were my friends) but I did not know that Hulk was THAT strong and dangerous. During my time when computer was just a bulky machine, the Incredible Hulk was much nicer and friendlier. Other than the fighting scenes, the presence of Ironman had created many hilarious moments which had made the story more than just a transformation from a comic to the silver screen.

I guess you can all predict the ending of the story. But I really hope they are coming back to the cinema real soon.

MOVIE REVIEW 25 - THOR

The last time I watched a movie was during the recent Chinese New Year. With the publicity going on, I was looking forward to another superhero to emerge from the silver screen.

Alas, I was quite disappointed to find out that Thor was not a normal human being but was actually originated from another place which was associated with the gods and goddess - a fiction now got mixed up with the tales of myth and legend. It was my fault for not knowing the history of this Marvel superhero but there I was transformed to the world of magic and science blended into one. The secret of Thor's superpower: a hammer, that was all.

As usual, there were a lot of explosions, flames, thunders and lightnings with all the deafening sound effects which was a blessing as I was kept awake until the end. After watching the movie , I was quite sure the sequel will be coming soon to the cinema near you.

I should have watched other movies but there was not much choice actually. My next movie will be Kungfu Panda 2 which will be released at the end of this month.
