HAVING A PICNIC BREAKFAST LIKE THE LOCALS - AT THE HOTEL

22nd NOVEMBER 2024    ~ After getting the food from the local market of La Ngu small town, we went back to the hotel for breakfast.

The best place to enjoy the food was having a picnic in the open area of the hotel, near the swimming pool. All the food was laid on the marble table and we were ready to savour our catch at the market and other nearby stalls.

I personally loved all the delicacies bought from the street. At first, there seemed to be so much food on the table but we still managed to clear everything by the end of the session. We were delighted with the gastronomic adventure to start off the day and were looking forward to many more coming our way in Thailand.

THE DINNER SESSION IN LITTLE BANGI WITH FRIENDS FROM KUANTAN

28th SEPTEMBER 2024    ~ On the second day stay in Bangi, I suggested the street food in Little Bangi to my UPM TESL friend, Puan Aunillah Hilmi, and her husband. We almost called the dinner date off because of the heavy rain late in the evening but fortunately the heavy downpour stopped before 8:00 p.m.

People seemed to get out of their houses to get food at the same time, right after the rain stopped. Hence, the first challenge was to find a parking space and the second one was to secure a table to enjoy the food that we had bought from the stalls around the place. I was waiting for about 15 minutes and spotted a family leaving after they had finished eating.

I had been to this food haven a few times but before this, I went much earlier and did not stay there. I took all the food to the hotel and ate room. [READ HERE]. This was my first experience enjoying the food with other people in lively atmosphere.

fried spiral potato

fried Inoki mushroom

We couldn't stay long as there were still other people waiting for empty tables. The food was good in terms of variety and according to Puan Aunillah, most of the items were surprisingly cheap. There were too many choices and we ended up bringing back the unfinished food to be eaten later.

One reason I like staying in Bangi Gateway is because of this food arena. I don't mind staying at the same place again whenever I go to Bangi.

MY BATAM GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - TRYING THE STREET FOOD

25th JANUARY 2020 ~ The driver cum guide then took us to this place where there were many food stalls arranged in rows. Besides the local food galore, the other attraction was the gigantic words "WELCOME TO BATAM" atop of the hill nearby. Many came just to pose with that appearing in the background of their photos.

There were just too many choices and I finally settled for something called "kerak telur" which was actually omelette fried in small moulds. And a glass of cane juice to go with that.

can you spot the ghost?
This should be a popular spot for the locals on weekends. You must come here when you are in Batam, for the local food as well as to prove that you have been here by posing with those three words.
