ATTENDING THE FIRST TWO WEDDINGS DURING THE SCHOOL BREAK

WEDDING #1

30th May 2015 ~ I attended the first wedding reception of an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, Mohd. Anas Qarni, which was held at Taman Universiti. There were a few ex-students so more photos managed to be taken. We also tried the photo booth that was prepared for guests to take photos with the bride and groom, which was real cool.

WEDDING #2

The second reception was held at Taman Sri Pulai Perdana. An ex-colleague, Mr. Mohd. Nasir Sardangi, held the event for his brother-in-law. I arrived quite late so many guests had already left but was still lucky to meet a few familiar people.

I should be thankful in a way that I did not have to attend too many weddings in one day, Eating too much is definitely not good for our health.

ATTENDING AN EVENT - BEFORE SOMEONE GETS CIRCUMCISED

29th MAY 2015 ~ I was invited to attend an event by an ex-student  of SMKTUN who became a colleague after that, Puan Arba'iyah Ahmad,at her house. The feast was held because her eldest son would be circumcised the very next morning. As usual, there were a few friends as usual, as well as ex-students.

During my time, I never had this kind of celebration just to be circumcised. Too bad, it could only be done once.

VISITING MY FAVOURITE SNACKS OUTLET

25th MAY 2015 ~ I went to this large snacks distributor in Simpang Renggam after the training in Benut had ended. I used to visit "Perusahaan Zainab Jaya" to get my supply of local or traditional cookies or chips. One reason, the prices were cheaper here and you will be spoiled for choice.

Hopefully someone from the company will read this and give a RM500 cash voucher as a token of appreciation.

MOVIE REVIEW - "SPY"

A spy is always a man. If a woman becomes a spy, she must then be beautiful and sexy, and super slim, This spy is not the ordinary one, and that is why she always makes a good cover.  There are the usual shooting and hitting and fighting, but in a fun way. The movie is however may not be suitable for kids as there swearing words are heard from the very beginning right until the end. But I somehow believe they have seen/heard worse. This film reminds me so much of the recent "Kingsman" and I wonder what will happen if they put these two characters together.

It is very entertaining, very hilarious in a violent way. Don't we all love violence once in a while?

BOOK REVIEW - "KISSES ON A POSTCARD" by TERENCE FRISBY

This book was surprisingly good. It tells the story of the lives of two young boys living in London but were sent to the countryside by their parents as there was intense fights going on against the Germany during World War ll. The two boys had to stay with their foster parents, Uncle Jack and Auntie Rose. They were innocent and carefree, and enjoyed their time under the supervision of two complete strangers. When the war ended, the two children had to return home to their parents. And there was this heart-wrenching scene at the railway station when Uncle Jack and Auntie Rose had to bid them farewell.

I hope they could adapt this novel and produce a film which would be something I would definitely watch. I have already found the theatrical version of this book on Youtube but I think that is not the full version which has been posted.

MEETING MORE EX-STUDENTS CUM EX-ANGKLUNG PLAYERS

23rd JUNE 2015 ~ Once in a blue moon, I got to see girls ex-students over coffee,or heavier meals. When Ms. Hariani asked me on Facebook whether I was free to meet up, with another ex-student, Ms. Nurul Izzati Zakaria, I did not hesitate to say "Yes". So we went to Plaza Kotaraya for a late lunch/tea/early dinner with a lot of catching up to do.

Both of them are from SPM batch 2008 so the conversation was basically about the good old time in SMK Taman Universiti, all the things in the past and present. Both of them played angklung before and Izati was also the school chess player. Surprisingly there was a lot to gossip so I am looking forward to another session some other time.

Thank you girls for the time. We should have the all-girls Angklung Group reunion one day.

OUR REGULAR MEETING ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON

The members of SMKTUN's Angklung group have been meeting for about 4 months by now, mostly on Friday afternoon from 2:30 until 6:00 p.m. without fail. Even with only 6 seniors remaining in the group, I believe the team is now ready to perform in public. However, we are still trying hard to get invited to any event. Too bad if the angklung players could not get any chance to perform after all the hard work.

By the way, thanks a lot for the Teacher's Day present, you shouldn't have done that in the first place. I am always happy to get to play/train angklung every Friday.

MOVIE REVIEW - "PITCH PERFECT 2"

If you like High School Musical kind of thing, this could be one you should watch. It contained light comedy but sometimes the scriptwriters seemed to be working too hard to make people laugh. I might say there was some cheap comedy especially in the opening act. I have been watching the real acappella singing competitions on Youtube and I find the singing was not natural. The voices were obviously enhanced by machines.

I just hope there will no longer be any more sequel to the movie.

MEETING ANOTHER EX-STUDENT AFTER SCHOOL

20th MAY 2015 ~ A date was set with an ex-student of SMKTUN, Mr. Afham Shah, who was once an active member of Kadet Bomba and Angklung Group, after more than 3 years not seeing each other. It was just a movie marathon and a late lunch/early dinner session at Aeon Bukit Indah.

We definitely need more time to gossip (minus the time spent in the movie theatres) so hopefully there is a sequel to this meeting.
