STOPPING BY AT ARRAHMAN MOSQUE AT AN R&R AREA ON THE HIGHWAY

26th JULY 2025    ~ We had a short stop at one R&R area on the highway during our journey from Bromo to Malang for coffee and toilet breaks, as well as the chance to perform our day prayers. There was this mosque called Masjid ArRahman which I liked very much because of its simplicity.

I just found out that the mosque was located oh KM66A of Ruas Pandaan, Malang.

The word that came into my mind when observing the structure: minimalist. There were no frills and anything extravagant.

The ladies' praying area however was a bit too open I think as some women might need some privacy when it came to changing into their praying attires. I think the design is almost the same in other mosques in Surabaya or Indonesia.

All in all, I wish we could have a mini mosque like this for our highways R&R areas in Malaysia instead of the musolla/surau [the smaller scale of a mosque].

THE MINI ORCHID GARDEN AT THE R&R

Another attraction for visitors at the R&R (Rest and Recuperate) area was the orchid garden. This was like a mini paradise for orchid lovers where hundreds of Thai orchids were put on display. There was a spectrum of colours of orchid hybrids beyond imagination.

Thailand is the world's second largest orchids exporter after Netherlands. This has been made possible not only by the climate, but also by the agriculture technology they have.

I always think of trying to grow my own orchids at home but then the plants require extra tender loving care so guess I need to wait until I retire.
