THE 14th DAY OF EID 1441H

An ex-student, Mr. Syazwan Shavarein [SMK Taman Universiti SPM batch 2013], accompanied by his parents and 2 other siblings were here this evening for the annual house visit (for Eid).

They were the regular visitors and it was a tradition that had to be practised for every Eid.

Thanks Mr. Syazwan and family for the visit, as well as the gifts. Hope to see everybody again next year minus the secrecy. 👨

'TIS THE SEASON TO BE REUNITED

It has been a tradition for Mr. Ng Ching Khai and I to meet up before Chinese New Year since he left school after SPM in 2013. So far, we have managed to keep up the annual customary coffee session up until today. This time we decided to try the SDS Bakery in Taman Universiti for the short rendezvous.

Thanks Ching Kai for the time, the company as well as the never-missed CNY goodies. I really appreciate the effort especially when many others have already disappeared.

ATTENDING A HALF DAY MEETING AT JOHOR STATE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Today was historical as it was my first time sitting in a meeting chaired by the the Director of Johor State Education Department, with other high ranked Education Officers of the Johor state. The most difficult thing was to keep myself awake throughout the session so I had to make myself busy typing some notes. Luckily, my seat was stationed right at the back of the room so not many would notice if I dozed off.

It was such a big relief to be seated next to a colleague so there was someone to talk to.

I was earlier greeted my ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti (SPM 2013), Siti Nurhanisah Mohd. Said, who is now doing her internship there. My day was hence started with a positive vibe when I saw someone who smiling brightly and waving at me from afar.

Then there was a reunion session when I met an ex-classmate of Sekolah Temenggong Abdul Rahman (2), Mr. Mujahid Ahmad, who is now attached with Johor Religious Department. We have not met since we left primary school 37 years ago.

It was a half day session so I guess it was not that bad at all. This was just the beginning which means there will be more meetings to attend next year.

THE 23rd DAY OF EID 1439H

SATURDAY, 7th JULY 2018, had been a very long and tiring day for me. First there was this Alumni Eid get together in SMK Taman Universiti, which was followed by a few house visits and a wedding reception. Here is the report in brief.

WEDDING RECEPTION

The father of the bridegroom,
and Puan Hashazah with her husband.

Mr. Mohammad bin Kadir, a non-academic staff of SMK Taman Universiti, held a wedding reception for his son at his house in Taman Universiti, Johor Bahru.

As usual, I met a few friends/ex-colleagues there. And at the same time, Mr. Mohammad's eldest son, Mr. Nazary, is also my ex-student in SMKTUN (SPM batch 2004).

OPEN HOUSE #1

From Taman Universiti, I made my way to Bandar Baru Kangkar Pulai. This time it was Eid's Open House held by Mr. Tukiman Sarmin, the PK HEM (Senior Assistant of Students' Affair) of SMK Dato' Jaafar, my colleague now. There were a few people from school who were there at the same time.

I went to another open house right after at Taman Pulai Indah actually but it was not highlighted here. The place was quite crowded at that time with people who were mostly strangers to me.

HOUSE VISIT

As I had decided to go to another open house invitation in the evening with Mr. Amirul Husni Shaarin (SPM batch 2010), I might as well pay him a visit at his house. Both the parents were at Shah Alam at that time so it was just a short stay.

OPEN HOUSE #3

I was invited by Mr. Syarifuddin Wahid (SPM batch 2010) and his elder brother Mr. Hafizuddin Wahid (SPM batch 2004) at their place in Taman Universiti. I had been invited to the same event before but this year, I managed to make it there.

There were more ex-students I met there. However, I could not stay too long as I was already too full and too tired. I went to bed early when I reached home and had slept like a log.

I am still expecting more photos from the host's camera to be published here.

6 more days before Eid comes to its end this year.

THE 22nd DAY OF EID 1439H

I attended another Eid Open House today which was held at Taman Skudai Indah. It was at the right place and time, as I was having angklung practice in school before that so it was just nearby.

Mr. Nadhir, ex-SMK Mutiara Rini

Thanks Mr. Syazwan Shavarein [SMKTUN alumni 2013] for the invitation. I had to control myself from eating too much as everything served on the buffet table was delicious.

I AM ALREADY GETTING VERY FAT. *sigh* We should just shorten the Eid celebration to one week. :)

THE 16th DAY OF EID 1439H

Already the third week of Eid, I got to see more people as they came visiting this weekend. The first visitors, a husband and wife couple, Puan Sakinah Mohd. Ismail and Mr. Azhar, drove all the way from Seremban. I was truly touched for their kind gestures just to be at my house just for like an hour. Too bad, I could not spend more time with them in town as I was expecting more visitors after that.

Puan Sakinah is my UPM TESL classmate class of 1993 while her husband was also from the same residential college there.

After that, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti (SPM batch 20050, Mr. Faiz Ishak and the wife, and their baby boy arrived. This was their very first visit to my place after trying for many years and finally the plan was successfully executed.

Later in the evening, another ex-student of SMKTUN (SPM batch 2013) was here with his other family members - parents and three other siblings. They were already family friends and his brother, Mr. Nadhir Iman was in SMK Mutiara Rini when I was teaching there.

The very last group of visitors were also alumni of SMK Taman Universiti were people from SPM batch 2006. Puan Noor Fatihah Hamid and this time coming with her husband, together with a schoolmate marrying another schoolmate, Puan Insyirah Johan and Mr. Firdaus with their two boys. So the group has grown bigger with two boys in the group - the young and not so young ones.

Even though Puan Fatihah is now working and residing in Kuala Lumpur, for many years already, she still makes it my house a must visit place during Eid.

That was quite a long day for me but I was happy to get to see many people throughout. Thirteen more days remaining to go visiting or to be visited.
