THE SHORT COFFEE DATE AFTER SCHOOL

A coffee date was set with Mr. Solihin Ramli, an ex-student of Asrama Semai Bakti Felda, after school. The chosen venue was Nimmies Pastry Cafe as I wanted to get coffee and something light.

It had been quite some time we last met. He was too busy taking photos for all  sorts of events.

When I arrived there at 4:00 p.m., there was no parking space nearby so I had to park my car in front of people's houses further away. There were actually people queuing up outside but Mr. Solihin had arrived much earlier and successfully secured a place for us. I actually asked him to do that.

This was my second time here and the cafe was crowded even though it was still office hours. Where did all these people come from?

It was just a short coffee date and guess I would have to wait for some other time for another coffee session with Mr. Solihin as he would get busier after this.

AFTER THE MOSQUE, THE PALACE IT WAS

26th AUGUST 2023 ~ After the visit to Ubudiah Mosque, the next nearby attraction in Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar, was Istana Kenangan, which was a wooden palace, a.k.a the Perak Royal Museum. The palace was also known as Istana Adabi as one popular advertisement by Adabi [a local food brand] was filmed here.

The prominent feature of this building was that nails were not used to keep the wooden structure to stand strong until today.

Read more about the history of the palace [HERE].

Even though this place was gazetted as a museum, there were not many exhibits to be seen.

When you are here, make sure you take a lot of photos. There sure are many beautiful spots inside and outside the palace which boasts the beautiful traditional Malay architecture.

My friends and I of UPM TESL class of 1993 did just that.

THE CO-CURRICULUM UNIT IN SERVICE TRAINING AT SIREH PARK

25TH NOVEMBER 2023    ~ An in service training session was carried out by SMK Dato' Jaafar Co-curriculum Unit. The venue chosen was Sireh Park at Taman Bukit Indah and it was a collaborated activity with Am/PM Pharmacy.

The first slot was a brief health talk by a doctor of the pharmacy. There was a quiz session and those who answered the questions correctly were given prizes.

The second slot was the Art Therapy Session. We were given water colour, brushes and a piece of paper where we had to produce a drawing or painting as a form of therapy.

A warming up activity was carried out after that to prepare the participants for the next slot.

The highlight of the in-service training was the hiking trip up the hill.

Those who can, do. Those who cannot, do something else.

It was a fun outing day, to be away from school for once. Everybody sure had a whale of a time and at the same time, gained new knowledge about leading a healthy lifestyle. Thank you AM/PM Pharmacy for the cooperation and collaboration.
