THE COFFEE SESSION AFTER THE WEDDING RECEPTION

We still had to continue our chat after the attending the wedding reception [READ HERE] so we decided to find a coffee shop nearby.

Luckily there was Gigi Coffee nearby and we just stopped by without any hesitation.

I was no coffee expert. To me coffee is coffee, either it is too sweet and too creamy and that was the only comment I could make. It was my first time drinking coffee at Gigi but for one thing, the cafe here was brand new. It was super clean and comfortable.

To have two friends chatting while sipping the coffee would be the best thing ever.

Hoping my two friends/ex-colleagues [of SMK Dato' Jaafar] could find the time for coffee again some other time despite their busy schedule at school.

ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF AN EX-COLLEAGUE

An ex-colleague of SMK Dato' Jaafar, Mr. Syahmi Izzat, tied the knot and I went to attend the reception which was actually for the bride's side. The event was held at Citra Event Hall at Kota Masai, in Pasir Gudang area.

I had a friend who agreed to go there together. We were there after 2:00 p.m. but did not meet many people from school there. They must have come and left much earlier.

It was still a great pleasure to get to see the few old friends again once in a while.

Wishing Mr. Syahmi Izzat and Miss Hidayah a blessed married life ahead filled with endless joy and love.

HAVING ROASTED DUCK FOR DINNER

29th AUGUST 2024    ~ This was a regular get together for our gastronomic adventure. There was a new restaurant near my house, in Kampung Bendahara, which its specialty was the duck meat dishes. This food should be something rare and we decided to visit this place at least once.

We had rice with roasted duck and for dessert we ordered fries and Keropok Lekor.

THE VERDICT: The rice was extremely delicious and the duck was good. Even if you don't like duck meat, the rice should be the item that you must try. And they have chicken and other dishes too, including western food.

Thanks to Mr. Muhammad Arif Mohd. Nizam [an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti], my regular gastronomic adventurer and we had already decided where to go for our next meet and eat session.

THE TEA SESSION WITH AN OLD FRIEND NEAR SENAI AIRPORT

28th AUGUST 2024 ~ I had to go to Senai International Airport for some urgent matters and that should be the best time to meet up an old friend/ex-colleague [of SMK Taman Universiti]. Mr. Masrizal Sayute was staying in a residential area not far from there and he agreed with the idea.

We decided to go to the restaurant located near the airport. If I was not mistaken, we had been there once - Chamek Restaurant.

We had the traditional "Jemput-jemput" and "Lempeng", and I must say the Curry gravy was superb. I would not mind ordering the same food if I were to come back again to this place. We also had something slightly different drinks this time: "Teh Cincau" [Milk Tea + Grass Jelly].

It was just a short meeting but it was time well spent. We had to leave before 5:00 p.m. before the roads got congested when people went home from work. There would always be a next time, but the exact tine was unknown.

MAKING THE HEADLINE IN THE NEWSPAPER AGAIN - AFTER ONE WEEK

My recycling activities story appeared again in the newspaper, this time in a Chinese daily "China Press".

It looked like the translated version of the story that appeared in The Star a week ago. [READ HERE]

Here is the online version of the news in Chinese. [CLICK HERE]

By now, I should be almost a celebrity already 😀

I successfully got hold of the hardcopy of the real newspaper from a petrol kiosk in the afternoon. It is now time to get the cuttings framed at the shop real soon.

VISITING KAMPUNG AGONG IN PENAGA, PENANG - PART ONE

16th AUGUST 2024    ~ The Johor Delegation to the national level symposium became tourists before the event started. We were taken to this attraction in Penaga, Pulau Pinang, which was quite popular.

It was a kind of ecotourism and should be something exciting for city dwellers. Once you passed through the entrance, right in front of your eyes was the lush and green paddy field and coconut trees.

There just too many scenic spots where one could take tonnes of photos. This should be one place people come just to strike as many poses as possible and enjoy the village lifestyle for once.

DIVERTING TO AKASHI KAIKYO BRIDGE EXHIBITION CENTRE

18th JULY 2024    ~ The next venue in the itinerary list was Akashi Kaikyo Bridge but we saw the Exhibtion Centre as we were walking there. We decided to stop by to see what was there in the building.

The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is a mega structure and is known as the longest suspension bridge in the world.

The Exhibition Centre was like a small museum and it exhibited in detail of the processes involved in completing the whole project, from the very beginning until the end.

One place that engineers and architects would have to visit when they are in Kobe.

We then proceed to see the real thing after learning a bit about the bridge from the Exhibition Centre.
