VISITING LABUAN BIRD PARK - PART TWO

[CONTINUATION OF PART ONE]

5TH JUNE 2022 ~ There was one colourful building on a hill which should function as the information or education centre but the place was not well taken care of. Something needs to be done to make this facility work for the visitors.

Other than birds, other animals that could be found here were rabbits that were housed in a small sanctuary. It should be some sort of a mini pet zoo but all the rabbits were hiding in the middle of a hot afternoon.

This should be one place for families to visit. The place was big and there were many birds to see. No doubt the visit to the Bird Park would be educational and should benefit the young ones.

VISITING LABUAN BIRD PARK - PART ONE

5th JUNE 2022 ~ There was a Bird Park in Labuan and the place was actually quite big. There were many visitors here this afternoon, mostly parents with their small kids. There was a small entrance fee paid at the ticket counter.

There was this huge aviary in the middle of the park and at the same time there were also smaller enclosures which were scattered around the place.

Basically people came here to see all the varieties of birds and learned some things about them.

VISITING THE CHIMNEY MUSEUM OF LABUAN - PART 3

[CONTINUATION OF PART TWO]

5th JUNE 2022 ~ Then it was time to see and explore the prominent structure of Labuan - THE CHIMNEY. This was one structure on the island that was not destroyed in WWl.

This chimney was built in the year of 1880's and the usage of it is still a mystery. It is stated that there is no traces of smoke and whatsoever that indicate that it works like any normal chimney. However, the locals believe that it was used as a ventilation shaft. Still, there are many people that have other thought. Some say that it is just an unfinished mansion built during those days while others claim that it is a light house to be. Until today, no one knows the right purpose of this chimney and this is why it is such mystery. It has a height of 106 feet and it was built with stacks of red bricks. It was made up of up to 23,000 pieces of red bricks that are imported from the England. The architectural style and design are more or less the same as those of British.

There was an exhibition going on outside the museum, something to do with traditional pastimes. You could try to play some of the games like top-spinning.

Definitely one of the must visit attractions in Labuan when you are there.
