THE ONE NIGHT STAY AT RAIA HOTEL, PENANG

During my third visit to Penang on 15th July, another hotel was chosen outside the city centre as this should be some kind of a transit trip. My friend, Mr. Ridwan A. Wahid, suggested Raia Hotel and I agreed. This accommodation was once known as TH [Tabung Haji] Hotel.

First of all, the hotel room was very spacious and you could actually put about 10 people in it. It had been a very long time for me to get to stay in such a large room at a reasonable rate. The room was also clean and the facilities were in good condition.

We had the buffet breakfast at the cafe and the food was decent enough for the price of RM30/pax.

Another attraction was you could visit the Night Market at Jalan Mahkamah [READ HERE] if you check in on Friday. It was just a walking distance away from the hotel. I will definitely stay here if I am to go to Penang again one day.

REWARD TIME FOR STUDENTS IN MY ENGLISH CLASSES

 

It was time to give away rewards to two groups of students in classes which I teach English, namely 3 Sin and 3 Tan of SMK Dato' Jaafar. 

The first group comprised of students who scored A for their First Test for English many months ago.

While the second group were students who managed to complete the many English exercises given in their Google Classroom group from March to June.

I hope this small gesture could motivate these boys to work harder and be more serious with the English lessons. There should be more rewards awaiting after the Mid Term Exam.

ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF MR. MUTALIB AMAT SAIRIN

Mr. Mutalib Amat Sairin, another ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, held his wedding reception today for the groom's side. His mother, Puan Fabilah Baharom, is also an ex-colleague of the same school. In fact, we had worked together in the same school when I was first posted to SMK Gelang Patah.

The venue of the reception was at DCM Hall in Taman Universiti.

As expected, there were quite a number of ex-students and ex-colleagues who were in the hall when I arrived.

Wishing Mr. Mutalib and his wife a happy and blessed life together filled with happiness and love.

THE GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE AT THE AIRPORT

         15th JULY 2023    ~ When you had nothing else to do while waiting for your flight at the airport, the best thing would be to find a seat in a restaurant and gastronomic adventure should happen.

At 9:00 p.m. however there was no more Nasi Kandar on the shelves. I was happy with the Roti Canai and Teh Tarik I got before boarding time. Nasi Kandar Line Clear should be one of the prominent Nasi Kandar restaurants in Penang.

That should conclude my short trip to Penang and Kedah this time, and hopefully there will more trips to Penang International Airport after this.

THE NIGHT MARKET IN JALAN MAHKAMAH, BAYAN LEPAS

15TH JULY 2023 ~ To find out there was a night market near the hotel where we were staying brought some kind of excitement. There was no reason not to go especially when the airport was near the hotel too and there would be enough time to catch the flight later in the evening.

This night market should be popular among the locals by looking at the crowd when I was there at about 6 p.m. My friend was telling this place is called Jalan Mahkamah in Bayan Lepas.

There were too many food items that I would love to buy but I was still full after eating the Prawn Noodles like 2 hours before that [READ HERE]. I would sure visit this night market if I were to stay at the same hotel when I am in Penang next time.
