EXPLORING LAMAN PEKAN LAMA IN PEKAN, PAHANG

15TH SEPTEMBER 2025    ~ We had already spotted this touristy place as we arrived at the restaurant/stall [READ HERE]. We wasted no time to do some exploration at Laman Pekan Lama [TRANSLATE: Old Front Yard] once we finished our drinks.

The first section was the road which might be the entrance a village with a row of old shophouses which had been renovated and beautified. This area already provided a few spots for awesome photos to be captured.

In the other section, stood the traditional Pahang Malay house, but the building was locked unfortunately. We were still happy to get ourselves photographed in this newly developed area for tourists [because everything looked new]. It was not in our original itinerary list.

That should conclude my short half day trip to Pekan, Pahang, with my two UPM TESL Class of 1993 university mates. I hope I can get back to Pekan again one day as there are museums that need to be visited.

THE SHORT STOP AT WARUNG PEKAN LAMA

15th SEPTEMBER 2025    ~ After the intense photoshoot session outside the museum [READ HERE], we randomly stopped by at this one place called Warung Pekan Lama, not far from Pekan town.

The place was beautifully decorated with memorabilia of the past, which was also done by many other eating places these days to create the classic ambience.

Looking at the number of people arriving to have lunch, this place should be a popular spot in town.

We were actually looking for Puding Raja, the must-eat item when one is in Pekan, but could not find it there. We just had drinks to quench our thirst as Puan Aunillah suddenly had an impromptu plan for lunch. Apart from that, we also had spotted another a place near the stall for another photoshoot  session to take place [READ HERE].

THE MORNING OUTSIDE THE MUSEUM IN PEKAN, PAHANG

15TH SEPTEMBER 2025    ~ The plan was set to visit the few museums in Pekan, the Royal town of Pahang. What we did not know was all the museums in the state were closed on Monday. Puan Aunillah Hilmi, Puan Suriana Ali and I were not disappointed though as we were always ready with Plan B. Hence we roamed the open area in front of the main museum, Muzium Sultan Abu Bakar, and took as many photos as possible. I could just feel the teen spirit in the air at that moment.

There were actually many other visitors doing the same thing when we were there, but we managed to find spots when there were not many people around.

Another attraction of the museum was the Train Cafe. Unfortunately, the eating place was also not operating on Monday despite the fact that it was a public holiday and a big crowd came to visit the place. I am sure almost everybody would be eating there at that very time.

Now I have a reason to make a return trip to Pekan one day. We then adjourned to another site, for our gastronomic adventure as we were already thirsty after striking various poses everywhere.
