VISITING AN EX-STUDENT IN GLENEAGLES HOSPITAL, MEDINI

when the patient's wife
is also my ex-student

I got to know an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, Mr. Ahmad Firdaus Ahmad Shahlan, was warded in Gleneagles Hospital in Medini. Since I had some free time today, I decided to pay him a visit. At the same time, I would have the chance to chat with his wife, Puan Nor Al-Iman Madzlan, who happens to be from the same alma mater.

It was good to do some catching up with the patient's wife as I used to see the patient more when we went for coffee once in a while.

Too bad I had another date waiting somewhere nearby so I had to bid them "goodbye". Wishing Mr. Ahmad Firdaus a speedy recovery so that he could get back on his feet again, literally speaking.

VISITING SUNGAI LEMBING MUSEUM - PART ONE

16TH SEPTEMBER 2023 ~ The main attraction of Sungai Lembing would be its museum sitting on top of a hill. To get to the building was an uphill task, literally speaking as all the cars were parked outside the compound.

The entrance ticket was only RM2.00 and I personally feel that the museum authority should charge more.

The building was originally the house of a high ranking officer of the mine which was later converted into a museum.

Why is Sungai Lembing significant to Malaysia history? It once hosted the largest, deepest and longest underground tin mine in the world.

Generally, the museum exhibited everything related to underground tin mining in the past.

One part of the museum was like a geology gallery.

Only the bedroom part of the house was still maintained as the accommodation of an English man.

A LUNCH DATE AT RAMADA MERIDIN HOTEL WITH FIVE EX-STUDENTS

A lunch date was set at Ramada Remidin with five ex-students of SMK Taman Universiti who are from SPM 1999 batch.

The agenda of the meeting was to discuss about organizing a reunion event for the school for the year 2026.

I must say the meeting was a success. We had managed to gather some essential information regarding the hi-tea reunion. Hence, the organizing committee could already start working and I have faith in them.

Thanks to everyone who was present and for including me in. For one thing, I felt younger to be surrounded with young, energetic and enthusiastic people. And thanks also for the one sponsoring the food. Hope to be invited for another meeting in another hotel after this.

The target group of the camp was a group of teenagers and they were taught again the essential basics of cleansing oneself as required by the Syariah and the proper way of performing the solah [TRANSLATE: prayer].

The whole session was conducted by an invited speaker with the assistance of three young Imams form the mosque.

It was good to observe these young people were attentive throughout the session and was cooperative during the practical slot. May each and every one of the youngster gain something from the course conducted.
