ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF MR. FAHMI FOAD

I made a return trip to Zarith Sofia Library in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia [UTM] to attend the wedding reception of another ex-student. Mr. Fahmi Foad is an alumnus of SMK Taman Universiti and his mother, Puan Zaiti Ismail, is my ex-colleague of the same school.

As usual, there was a reunion session with ex-students and old friends. The photoshoot session happened from the beginning after arriving, right until the end.

I had met enough friends and ex-students for the day and it was time to say "goodbye" to the bride and groom, and the hosting family members.

Wishing Mr. Fahmi and the bride a happy life ahead as a husband and wife, filled with love and laughter.

ALL IN A DAY'S WORK - PART 2

FAQ:
Now that you have already retired, what do you do at home?

ANSWER:

I join some activities with Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat [Welfare Department] such as Children Protection Group, Children Welfare Group and Children Activity Centre.

One of the regular and frequent activities is attending meetings. Most of the time, the venue is at the at the state office in Kompleks Penyayang Kempas.

The agenda of today's meeting was to discuss upcoming activities for the Children Welfare Group. Most of the group members are working people so not many could attend the session today. The show must go on and by the end of the day, we agreed to carry out a few activities for the group. Hopefully the plans could be executed as they are actually quite interesting and beneficial for the underage group.

WHEN YOU STILL MET YOUR FANS AT WORK

After the court session today, I went to the second floor of the court building to buy some food. There were stalls set up selling mostly food items in conjunction with the Independence celebration.

After paying for my spaghetti, the person manning the booth asked me whether I taught in SMK Mutiara Rini before. I asked him why he did not ask me when I saw him two days before and he responded he might get the wrong person, especially he saw me in the court building instead of school.

[I guessed he saw my name after scanning the QR code when I was making payment] 😀

Then, another person approached me and introduced himself as my ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti. I still remember him from the first batch of students who enrolled at the school back in 1994. He was also selling drinks in the booth nearby.

Thanks to Mr. Alif and Mr. Firdaus for the pleasant surprise. It is always a pleasure to be approached by my ex-students, even after leaving school for many years. Once a teacher, always a teacher.

ALL IN A DAY'S WORK - PART 1

FAQ:
Now that you have already retired, what do you do at home?

ANSWER:
I attend court session for juvenile cases, usually one week in a month, and carry out my duty as the Court Counsel or Advisor for the Juvenile Court. I am appointed by Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat [TRANSLATE: Welfare Department] and I am paid allowance for attendance.

Most of the time, I have to be ready before 10:00 a.m. However, there will be time when we will only be called in the afternoon. Sometimes the waiting time is longer that the hearing session.

Today, we were asked to be at the court by 8:30 a.m., the earliest so far. Because of that, I had the time to get breakfast at Anjung Selera JOTIC, which is just beside the court building.

As I arrived early today, for the first time, I managed to park my car at the public car park beside the road, with a cheaper rate i.e. RM3.00 for 5 hours. I park at Tabung Haji building, like forever, and of course it is more expensive.

I found out the Teh Tarik here was expensive: RM3.00. The usual price is only RM2.00.

I was told that the Court Building will be returned to the State Government soon and next year, we will have to go to a new place in Iskandar Puteri. This news, nevertheless, is yet to be confirmed.

It is interesting to carry out my duty as I get to see new people and sit in a setting which is different from school, and witnessing all kinds of drama every time.

THE PARCEL THAT ARRIVED FOR ME TODAY

There was a parcel awaiting for me at the front door when I arrived home this afternoon.

The first item unboxed was the seeds of Kenaf plant. The last time [which was the first] I came across a Kenaf plant when I visited Perlis last year. [READ HERE] There would be no guarantee of a success story but there was no harm trying. You never know, you could visit a Kenaf farm in my backyard one day.

The second item in the parcel was Katak Puru fruits [TRANSLATE: toad fruits]. The fruits were either meant to be eaten or sown later. This was my first time seeing this fruit actually and I had never encountered the tree in my entire life.

Thanks Puan Narjisah Muhammad, a friend of UPM TESL class of 1993, for the parcel all the way from Kota Bharu. I will keep you updated on the development of the assigned project real soon.

SPOT THE ERROR 215

MY CORRECTED VERSION:

You should be responsible of your own belongings.

You will be charged for any items broken.

This reminds me of the signage I used to see at shopping malls at glassware and ceramic sections:

Nice to touch
Nice to hold
Once broken
Considered sold.

THE LAST MINUTE DINNER GATHERING TO CELEBRATE SOMEONE'S BIRTHDAY

Last minute plan works the best. Hence we gathered at Santuy Thai BBQ Steamboat Restaurant in Dataran Larkin to celebrate someone's birthday. This was the first time I think we met for dinner. All our gatherings before this took place during day time.

We were here to actually celebrate Puan Mazelina Mahmood's xth birthday, the real number is not revealed., There were the regular eat out/coffee members plus Puan Mazelina's niece.

We had to leave the place early as people had to go to work the next morning, except me.

Wishing my friend "Happy Birthday". May she enjoy her life in the 40's while she still can because next year it will another story.
