BLOGGING FROM TANJUNG BALAI, KARIMUN, INDONESIA

A 2D1N short get away for Chinese New Year school break at Tanjung Balai, Karimun Island, Indonesia. I always wanted to come here after visiting other nearby Indonesian islands like Batam and Tanjung Pinang. When a friend (an ex-collegaue of SMK Taman Universiti), Tuan Haji Mohd. Sabri Mohd. Salleh, agreed to my suggestion, a last minute plan was finally executed on the second day of Chinese New Year.

I would have to thank Tuan Haji Mohd. Sabri again for making it happen after hoping for so long. I must say my long Chinese New Year school break was not bad after all after this short trip.

Do come back more for photos and stories of my travel here real soon. [NOTE: I have not even finished of my Hua Hin trip posts last December.]

VISITING EX-STUDENTS' HOUSE FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR

It was again time to pay Ms. Eng Lee Lan a visit during the Chinese New Year celebration. It was kind of her to invite us, my other friends and I to her house again. This time I had friends of SMK Taman Universiti to join in the fun. Pn. Yusidah Yusof was there her son and the friends while Pn. Rokiah Junoh was accompanied by her husband.

Ms. Eng Lee Lan is from SPM batch 2003. Her other sister was also in SMKTUN, Eng Lily, from SPM batch 2011, was also at home.

Thanks Lee Lan for the invitation. This is like once a year kind of gathering and hope to see you again for many more years to come.

'TIS THE SEASON TO BE REUNITED

It has been a tradition for Mr. Ng Ching Khai and I to meet up before Chinese New Year since he left school after SPM in 2013. So far, we have managed to keep up the annual customary coffee session up until today. This time we decided to try the SDS Bakery in Taman Universiti for the short rendezvous.

Thanks Ching Kai for the time, the company as well as the never-missed CNY goodies. I really appreciate the effort especially when many others have already disappeared.

MOVIE REVIEW - "HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD"

I did not watch the first two prequels of this movie but the plot was easy to predict. The dragon that was brought up and trained by the main character in the earlier two films had to be released so that it could get back to the place where it belonged. The end.

If you love animation or a die-hard fan of "How to Train Your Dragon", then you better go and watch this as there is no more sequel, as what I have read on the internet.

ATTENDING MR. IZZUDDIN RAHMAN'S WEDDING RECEPTION

I was at V8 Hotel, Johor Bahru, attending another wedding reception of the son of Ustazah Raja Ainurraziyah, an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, Johor Bahru. The husband, Mr. Abdul Rahman Ngah, who is also a teacher and a senior assistant, is no stranger to me. Four out of the five children attended SMKTUN too.

As usual, wedding reception is the venue for small reunion to happen. Even though I was actually late, arriving there at about 3.00 p.m., there were still some friends I managed to see.

The one who just got married was Mr. Izzuddin Abd. Rahman who were in SMKTUN before he went away to his father's school when he was in form three, if I am not mistaken.

I was glad to see old friends and ex-students too once in a while. I should thank the parents of the grooms for the invitation.

THE CHINESE NEW YEAR SCHOOL BREAK HAS STARTED

It is finally here - the one week school break for the Chinese New Year. It is best to start celebrating early so that the holiday could be utilized to the maximum. It was the boys' day out and this time, we went to Paradigm Mall for lunch and which was then followed by a movie.

Someone actually had received his pay for his part-time work while waiting for the SPM result and was kind enough me to give me a lunch treat at Pizza Hut.

Thanks Mr. Mohd. Shahrul Nizam Muslih [SMKTUN SPM batch 2018] for the time, the company and the treat. Hopefully we could go for more outing like this some other time even though we are not meeting each other anymore for angklung practise.
