INTRODUCING SEVEN OAKS TO OLD FRIENDS

Puan Sakinah Ismail, an ex-coursemate of UPM TESL Class of 1993, and her husband, Mr. Azhar Ahmad, were in town again. The last time we saw each other was back in October 2020. It was time for another gastronomic adventures. I wanted to introduce them to my favourite cafe for our late lunch and they happily accepted my suggestion.

THE VERDICT: The husband and wife couple loved both the ambience of the dining area and the food as well, so I guess it was all a success.

That was not the end of the adventure, we planned to meet again for dinner.

THE LAST WEDDING RECEPTION DURING THE CNY BREAK

This should be the last wedding reception attended during the CNY break, before school starts tomorrow. It was the wedding reception of the son of a colleague [of SMK Dato' Jaafar], Puan Jamaliah Shaharuddin, which was held at the Community Hall at Bandar Dato' Onn.

I was there with another colleague in the afternoon, and there were a few other friends met when we arrived. The more the merrier.

That should wrap up my Chinese New Year break activities this time: no travelling but just eating out throughout the week. I just miss the old life that I had.

HAVING WOODFIRE BURGER FOR DINNER/SUPPER

2nd February 2022 ~ A dinner/supper date was set at the last minute as someone wanted to pass to me the "Keropok Lekor" and fish crackers he got me from Terengganu. Initially we wanted to go to this one place near Larkin Bomba but the stalls were closed so we simply opted for Woodfire Burger.

The burger was delicious and the food was gobbled down in no time. I think we spent more time waiting for the food to be served than eating it.

Thanks Mr. Solihin Ramli for the "keropok" from Terengganu and for the company. We should do this more often.

ATTENDING SYAZWAN'S WEDDING RECEPTION

Today was another wedding reception of an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, Mr. Syazwan Shavarein [SPM batch 2012]. The event was held at Savana Hill Resort in Ulu Tiram.

When I arrived there at 3:00 p.m., there were still a few ex-students and an ex-colleague [of SMK Taman Universiti] at the event.

The bride's family has actually become family friends and I am no stranger to the parents and his other siblings.

Wishing the newlyweds, Syazwan and Hayati, a blessed marriage life that will be filled with love and happiness throughout.

A DINNER DATE WITH AN EX-CHESS PLAYER

Someone came back from India 3 months ago after finishing his studies there. Today was the best time to meet as by Saturday he would have tied the knot already and would not be a free man anymore. So we decided to meet up at The Morso, Bandar Dato' Onn, at 6:00 p.m. for dinner.

Mr. Hanis Hanafi was not a student I taught in school and I got to know him when we went for state level chess competitions a few times when he was in secondary school.

It was only a short meeting and wonder if this would be the last outing for us. Anyway, I am looking forward to attending his reception in a few weeks from now.
