THE PANORAMIC TRAIN RIDE FROM JAKARTA TO BANDUNG - PART 2

22ND FEBRUARY 2025    ~ In the Panoramic Coach, snacks and coffee/tea were served as included in the ticket charge. The coffee and tea were bottomless. so you always asked for a refill.

During the last one hour of the journey, you could asked for the seats to be rotated so that you could sit facing the glass windows. However, you would need to ask the permission from the people sitting in front and behind you to do that. If you have long legs, or if you are overweight, then the position of the rotated seats would be uncomfortable as there was very narrow leg space. You have been warned.

Only a few seats in my row were rotated during the journey.

Along this stretch of the journey, there was also some kind of narrative being aired on the PA system on the train of the view outside. Unfortunately, the audio was not that clear and it was time the sound system to be upgraded.

At one point, the train had to stop at this one small station as it had to wait for the other train coming from Bandung, going towards Jakarta. The journey was resumed once that particular train had gone past us. I could conclude the railway system here was still the single rail track.

After about 3 hours, we finally reached the
city of Bandung. The mission to go on the Panoramic Train ride from Jakarta was accomplished. On one hand, the train is now a tourist attraction of Indonesia. On the other hand, there is no direct flight [I think] from Kuala Lumpur to Bandung as the government is expecting people to take the train ride from Jakarta. Even the new airport in Bandung is located faraway from the city centre.

I will try to add in more videos once I managed to get them edited and published on YouTube later.

THE PANORAMIC TRAIN RIDE FROM JAKARTA TO BANDUNG - PART ONE

22nd FEBRUARY 2025    ~ After enjoying the dessert and coffee at the Luxury Lounge, we were then asked to go to the platform on Level 3 as the train was about to arrive. There seemed not to be many people waiting on the platform but the Panoramic Coach was fully occupied by both locals and tourists.

The Panoramic Train was special as it had wide glass panels for its windows as well as the on the roof. Because of that, passengers got a better view of their surroundings as the train was moving.

The coach accommodated 2+2 seats which were comfortable and had wide leg space.

Basically what the passengers had to do was just to sit back and enjoy the panoramic view along the route from Jakarta to Bandung. You might fall asleep if you were not interested or too tired and sleepy.

MAKING ANOTHER APPEARNCE IN THE NEWSPAPER

22nd FEBRUARY 2025   ~ I made another appearance in The Star newspaper with the topic of recycling. It was an old photo of mine being used for the newspaper article.

Getting popular is not a choice it seems.

THE BRUNCH SESSION THE DAY BEFORE THE ARRIVAL OF THE FASTING MONTH

Chapati

Mr. Ridwan Wahid [a friend of UPM TESL Class of 1993], Puan Suhaila Sulong and their daughter were back in town, just one day before we start fasting in the month of Ramadan. This time, their niece was also with them.

I was notified at the last minute, so I could not think of any eating places. What more, many shops were already not operating today as they might have to prepare for their business at Ramadhan Bazaar. The only place I could think of was Plaza Angsana. However the restaurant that we wanted to go only opened at 11:00 a.m. and we were there at 10:00 a.m. So we just had breakfast at the Food Court.

Laksa Johor

Salad

By 11:00 a.m., we were already in Spazio Restaurant & Cafe, for more food. That should conclude the very short gastronomic adventure trip this time.

I was glad I got to see them as I could pass some items for Ramadan and the upcoming Eid, and they managed to hand over the Keropok [fish crackers] from Terengganu, and a new pot of Hibiscus plant to me.

The gastronomic adventure will only continue after the month of Ramadhan.
