CHAT CHAI MARKET IN THE CITY CENTRE - PART ONE

19th DECEMBER 2018 ~ One of the places I always visit when I travel will be the wet market, just to mingle with the locals and see what real life is really like. I found Chatchai Market on the first day while exploring and it was located in the heart of the city and I made it a point to come back to see more in the morning.

This place was fresh seafood haven and the size of every sea product was much bigger - and most importantly, everything was fresher. I was thinking of buying the gigantic prawns and would then ask the guy at the stall selling halal food to cook for me, but the plan was never materialized.

There were also all kinds of local food sold for breakfast.

I spotted a stall selling halal food inside the market too.

I wished I could even buy the vegetables to take back home but ended up only buying some fruits like snake skin fruits and longan.

MY HUA HIN GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - FRIED CHICKEN STALL BY THE ROAD SIDE

18TH DECEMBER 2018 ~ I had been eyeing this stall by the roadside near to Hua Hin Train Station selling halal fried chicken.

There was also another halal eating place near to the stall but it was only selling heavy food like rice and dishes in the morning, which was more like lunch for me.

The chicken was really delicious - the way it should be fried traditionally. The spices were the ingredients that made it special. I bought one at first and ate it (while sitting at the train station) but I bought another piece to take back to the hotel room. Highly recommended!

FYI, the stall is only opened for business during day time, most probably for breakfast.

ATTENDING PUAN ZURAIDA'S SON'S WEDDING RECEPTION

Puan Zuraida Hussien. an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, invited me to eldest son wedding held at Raja Zarith Sofia Library in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Puan Zuraida was sent to another school to hold a senior assistant post before she opted for early retirement. The groom was also an ex-student of SMKTUN and all her children were in the same school before.

As usual, there were some friends/ex-colleagues met in the hall. Unfortunately, they were seated with other people so it was quite difficult to get them to be photographed together. I was early today so I did not have the chance to meet the groom.

Thanks to Puan Zuraida for the kind thought. Hopefully I will be seeing her again in her other receptions in the future.

MARKET VILLAGE IN HUA HIN

18th DECEMBER 2018 ~ It was not a market after all but the biggest and modern shopping mall in Hua Hin. It was another mall, with many Caucasians in the evening. Christmas was around the corner so the building was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees and other accessories. The best time was to go at night as the place was brightly lit up with colourful bulbs.

There was an open air eating area and many people came here in the evening to drink and have dinner. A singer with a live band was performing on the stage when I arrived.

I liked the barber shop a lot. It was just a small cubicle that could accommodate two customers (one more seat at the other side) for a hair cut at one time.

The things that I bought from the Village Market were the traveler SIM card and a glass of iced tea.
