ATTENDING AN AQIQAH CEREMONY AFTER SCHOOL

19th FEBRUARY 2019 ~ I was invited to an Aqiqah ceremony at the house of ex-students of SMK Taman Universiti. The ceremony was held for the two babies, first the baby (aged 6 months) of Puan Nurul Nazihah Ismail who is married to her schoolmate, Mr. Hussin Abu Hassan [both from SPM batch 2009], and also the baby of  Dr. Muhammad Nur Harith Ismail [SPM batch 2005] who is just 8 days' old.

"Aqiqah is the Islamic tradition of the sacrifice of an animal on the occasion of a child's birth. It is widely performed by Muslims and it is considered sunnah to slaughter a sheep for the baby and distribute the meat to the poor. Muslims also prepare a feast for family and friends in celebration for being blessed with a child." [sourde: Wikipedia]

I am also no stranger to the parents and the whole family used to visit me during Eid celebration.

I should thank them for their kind thought to invite me. Guess there will be similar events like this in the future to attend.

THE PHOTO SHOOT SPOT IN TANJUNG BALAI

7th FEBRUARY 2019 ~ The photoshoot spot in Tanjung Balai with a very big word of "KARIMUN" is located near the Coastal Area. We were taken there by the motorcycle riders before heading back to our hotel.

The long walkway was built on stilts on the sea so people could enjoy the panoramic view of the place. This is definitely one spot a tourist should not miss.

The place was once a swampy area but now there were only a few trees visible nearby.

This should be the last post of my 2D1N visit to Tanjung Balai, Karimun, Indonesia. If I were to come back to this island again, it should be the visit to the beaches, and not forgetting the wet market. It is not something impossible as Indonesia is just across the sea from where I live.

VISITING BAITURRAHMAN MOSQUE IN TANJUNG BALAI

7th FEBRUARY 2018 ~ The third mosque visited in Tanjung Balai was Baiturrahman Mosque, which was near to the coastal area on the top of a hill. It is the second largest mosque in the island after the Grand Mosque. You actually see the building from the ferry as you are approaching the terminal.

The architecture of the mosque was beautiful. It looked older and was undergoing some construction work when we were there.

It was not prayer time yet so we left the place. Just hope there will be another chance to come back here one day.

VISITING MASJID AGUNG KARIMUN MERAL IN TANJUNG BALAI

7th FEBRUARY 2019 ~ One of the prominent structures in Tanjung Balai is its Masjid Agung (or the Grand Mosque). There seems to a grand mosque in all the cities in Indonesia. The mosque is not at the town centre and we were sent there on two motorbikes by two hotel staff which cost us 30 000 Rupiah each.

This mosque was built on a 25 000 metres² land in 2003 and could accommodate about 4000 people at one time.

The place was huge and clean and well-taken care of.

There was this place for people to carry out their training before going for their pilgrimage in Mecca.

We were there quite early or else we could perform our afternoon prayers at the mosque. I, however, will not hesitate to make a comeback to Masjid Agung Karimun one day. People say good intention will always be granted one day.
