THE CITY OF MAKATI AT A GLIMPSE

During our 4D3N trip to Manila, we stayed in the city of Makati, which is one of the 16 cities that make up Metro Manila. Makati is known to be the centre of business, entertainment and culture in Manila. According to Wikipedia, one million people flock the city during working days which should explain the crowd and the traffic congestion.

I first thought this was "Puss in Boots"

the roads were clear as it was during office hour

There were also huge shopping malls in Makati, interconnected to each other, especially those accommodating high-end boutiques, international and local outlets as well as franchised western dining restaurants. Everything looked so modern here - clean and bright.

Our hostel, however, was located somewhere at the city outskirt, which was about 30-minute walking distance from the business district. Here, the place became livelier in the evening, with clubs and drinking places and ladies waiting by the roadside, if you know what I mean. The so-called "red light district" was just nearby, actually. Not to worry as we were already hungry and tired every time we reached our hostel in the evening - we were happier to retire to bed early after having our stomachs filled.

the ladies were also busy at work

We first explored Makati once we arrived in Manila, so as to make ourselves more familiar of the place. We made a return visit on the third day, to visit a museum there and also to buy souvenirs to bring back home. Another reason we chose Makati was that there were many tourists staying there and was known to be a safe place for travelers.
