KHLONG HAE FLOATING MARKET: THE MUST-GO TOURISTY SITE IN HATYAI

22ND NOVEMBER 2024    ~ The first touristy site we went to after checking in at the hotel in Hatyai was Klong Hae Floating Market. We just took the Grab Car service to move around in the city during our stay in Hatyai.

There were stalls selling variety of food on the river. The sellers sat in the sampans [boats] that were "floating" on the water but not moving [as the boats were fixed onto stilts]. However, from the entrance to the spot of the real floating marker, there were already rows of vendors selling all kinds of items on the left and right side of the road.

I had been to one floating market in Thailand before where the sellers rowed their boats on the river to sell. Even the visitors had to take the ride on the sampan to get to the market. [READ HERE FOR PART 1 AND PART 2]

Malaysians visited Hatyai because of two reasons: First, to eat; and second, to shop.

There were also spots where visitors could sit and enjoy their catch.

I think most of the people who visited this place when we were there were our own countrymen.

Walking up the higher ground nearby, there were more permanent stalls selling food and non-edible items too.

I was told by friends that he food sold on the boats was all halal but one had to be more cautious of the stalls sold not on the water.

We did not buy anything from the Floating Market though as we had to hurry to get to another place right after.
