24TH NOVEMBER 2024 ~ From the market, we drove quite a distance and made a u-turn at the highway, just to buy the popular roasted chicken in Sakom. We were not sure the exact name of the shop but you could search for Ayam Bakar Halal located in Chana District [of Songkhla] on Google.
There were a few cars beside the stall when we reached the place. It was like a drive through kiosk and there was even a parking attendant who helped manage the traffic so the vehicles could stop and drive away smoothly after buying the food.
The chicken was roasted [or was it grilled?] in crocks, the containers that were made of clay and used to store water a long time ago. The scene reminded me of the story of Ali Baba and 40 thieves - hoping that the thieves would pop out at any second from the crocks.
There were also other food items being sold here besides the popular roasted chicken, and of them was chestnut. A friend suggested the bottled chili sauce that could be bought separately. The two types of sauce could also be given to friends, other than other souvenirs from Thailand.

Believe it or not, I only ate the chicken bought here when I arrived home in Johor Bahru the next day, at night. After traveling from the north to the south of the Peninsular [of course it had been stored in the hotel freezer in Penang], the chicken was still in good condition.
There was just so much [halal] food to buy and try when you are in Southern Thailand. The temptation was too strong to resist.
