VISITING THE ANIMALS AT SONGKHLA ZOO

23RD NOVEMBER 2024    ~ We ventured out a bit from Hatyai on the third day of the stay in Southern Thailand. We drove to Songkhla to visit the animals in the zoo.

The Songkhla Zoo covered a large area and visitors were allowed/expected to drive inside the zoo to a few stations and park the vehicles, and then only go see the animals. You could also just park the car and take the tram. The entrance fee was 350 baht for an adult and 50 baht for the car.

The first two animals which welcomed us were the hippopotamus and the capybara which were put without any companion.

Then we went to the nearby spot where the Penguin Show was about to start. This was one of the attractions of the place as the place was filled up with audience, who were mostly Thai school students, very quickly. We managed to secure the front seats so we could see the Penguin Parade clearly.

The penguins were the stars of the Zoo as the crowd were extremely excited to see them parading out and swimming in the water.

There was the Tiger Feeding Show which was scheduled at 2:30 p.m. that we could not afford to wait.

We did not visit all the animals or else we would have to spend longer time there. There were other places that we had planned to see in Songkhla right after.
