ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF MR. HAIQAL JOHARI IN KUALA LUMPUR

1ST MAY 2025    ~ It was the wedding reception of another ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, Mr. Haiqal Johari. It was actually the reception of the bride's side but I was still attending as I am still not sure of going to Lombok for groom's side.

The event was held at Villa Busainna Hall in Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur. Hence, I was not expecting to meet many people that I knew of. Surprisingly, I was also attending another wedding at the very same place on Sunday, 27th April.

The first person that I recognized was Mr. Endros Md. Zin, an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, who is the uncle of the groom.

Then there were three ex-students who were also there in the hall.

I had to make my move after taking a photo with the newlyweds as I had another appointment before going home to Johor Bahru.

Congratulations Mr. Haiqal and Ms. Hasya. Wishing you both abundance of joy and love throughout the marriage.

THE FEAST FOR THOSE GOING ON THE PILGRIMAGE TO MECCA

One of the occasions when one is invited to someone's home is when members of the family are about to leave for pilgrimage to Mecca. I was invited by two ex-students of SMK Taman Universiti to their parents' house in Taman Sri Pulai this afternoon for that reason, asd their parents have been selected to perform their Haj.

As expected, the were varieties of food prepared by the hosts for the guests.

I just came back from a wedding reception just an hour before that so I just opted for Laksa Johor.

To conclude the meal, I happily picked a few pieces of sweet items from the dessert table.

I had to leave quickly or else I would be taking more food, especially the colourful desserts.

Thanks a lot to the two siblings: Ms. Ezatul Hanim and Ms. Erma Dura Yahya for accepting me. May your parents journey to the holy land be eased and their religious obligation be fully accepted by Allah.

THE COFFEE SESSION BEFORE GOING TO THE AIRPORT

1st MAY 2025    ~ After attending the wedding reception in Taman Melawati, I had a few hours to kill before catching my flight home to Johor Bahru. I was lucky as a friend was kind enough to have coffee with me despite his busy schedule that day.

The chosen venue was Padi House located in Subang Parade, the mall that was popular when I was still an undergraduate in the early 90's.

The restaurant was jam packed with customers when we arrived at about 3:00 p.m. Maybe people had late lunch on Labour day, a public holiday.

We just ordered coffee and Tiramisu cake but unfortunately, the service was a bit slow even though many diners had already left at that time.

After one hour and a half, it was time to leave the place. I would have to get on the trains and go to the airport for my 9:00 p.m. flight. Apart from the wedding reception, I had a few meetings with friends during my 2D1N stay in Subang Jaya and it was a fun getaway for sure.

THE BREAKFAST AT LISETTE'S IN SUBANG JAYA

1ST MAY 2025    ~ Three ex-students of SMS Muar were again gathered for another gastronomic adventure. This time, the moderator decided to have English breakfast at Lisette's which was just beside the hotel where I was staying in Subang Jaya.

We were the second group of diners to arrive at about 8:00 a.m. and the place was still empty.

This was actually our second meeting this year. The first one was held in February [READ HERE AND HERE]. Guess we have been meeting more frequently now as there are more contents to be gossiped it seems.

We were there for about two hours and I had to get ready to attend a wedding reception. One of the ladies was kind enough to drive me there.

Thanks Puan Adura Adnan and Puan Hafizah Mohd. Nor for the time and company, the delicious English breakfast and the gifts as well. We shall meet for our next gathering, time unknown.

EID DIARY: 29TH SYAWAL 1446H

On the last day of Eid, a group of ex-students [of SMK Taman Universiti], came visiting. This time, they were accompanied by their wives and children - the more the merrier.

That should wrap up the Eid visiting activities this year. In conclusion, there were less visitors coming if compared to previous years. I still have a lot of Eid cookies on the shelves. Definitely not going to buy a lot for next year. People get busier as they now have families and perhaps are also occupied with work. A few wanted to come during weekends but I had to attend wedding reception invitations and open houses as well. Guess that is how things work these days.

God willing, see you next year in Syawal 1447H.

MY GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE IN KAJANG WITH MY TESL FRIENDS

30TH APRIL 2025    ~ The plan was unknown and I just had to take a train and meet Mr. Ridwan Wahid at Kota Damansara Train Station. Since we were there, we then went to pick Puan Zanariah Abd. Shukor from her house which was within the vicinity. Then Mr. Ridwan drove us all the way to Jade Hill in Kajang for our gastronomic adventure in the brand new restaurant of a dear friend named Taqisah Kopi.

I had been to the first restaurant Taqisah Cafe in Bangi twice [READ HERE and HERE].

We only notified our presence once we arrived there and fortunately Puan Rozida Mohd. Ramli, the cafe owner, still managed to come and entertain us at her new place despite her very busy schedule.

A mini gathering for the members of UPM TESL Class of 1993 took place for about 1 hour and a half.

It was only a short dine in session but it was worth the effort. All the food was good and we will have to go back to try other items on the menu. Please be ready to be surprised with their east-meets-fusion delicacies like Udang Petai Pizza and Daging Palembang Pasta.

I got to thanks Mr. Ridwan Wahid for chauffeuring us to the venue for lunch and Puan Rozida Mohd. Ramli for giving us another treat. The best part of it was to be able to sit and chat, and get ourselves updated with the latest information available. Thanks every body for time and the company.

When you are in Kajang, do drop by at Taqisah Kopi and you can check its Facebook Page HERE.
