VISITING SUNGAI LEMBING MUSEUM - PART TWO

16TH SEPTEMBER 2025 ~ The double storey colonial house was surprisingly huge enough to display a lot of exhibits to the visitors.

There was a huge crowd flocking to the museum, mostly parents bringing their kids for the long weekends break.

That should end my museum hopping adventure for my Kuantan trip this time. I still have to get back as I am yet to visit the museums that were not opened in Pekan when we went there the day before, and one museum was still under renovation in Sungai Lembing.

Thanks to the gracious hosts this time, Puan Aunilllah Hilmi and her husband, for taking me to all the places throughout my 2-day stay. One thing for sure, I will be seeing them again when I am back in Kuantan in the future.

CARRYING OUT MY REGULAR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

I decided to go to SMK Dato' Jaafar to carry out my social responsibility as the annual blood donation drive was held today. I used to go to Hospital Sultanah Aminah to do that since I retired. but opted to get back to school.

To kill two birds with one stone, I got to see a few friends/ex-colleagues and ex-students.

Puan Jothy, the organizer

I will have to remember to donate again next year. It is more fun to do it in school as I had the chance to socialize and meet more people.

OF A LUNCH DATE AND GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE

I could not remember when was the last time I embarked on a gastronomic adventure in town. One valid reason could be it was now quite difficult to get other people to join or to get invited. Everyone seemed to have tight schedules these days.

I had a lunch date today at a restaurant called Piring Puteh located in Taman Pulai Mutiara which was a bit further away from home. It was alright as I had a lot of time to spend in the afternoon and the traffic was not bad during working hours.

The interior decor was interesting as there were many [fake] plants inside that provided a calm and green ambience.

We had authentic Malay dishes for our meal: Ikan Sepat Masin Masak Lemak [Salted Fish in Coconut Gravy], Asam Pedas Ikan Siakap and Kangkung Goreng [Fried Water Spinach]. THE VERDICT: delicious food and I will not hesitate to come back again with other friends.

I just got to know there is also another branch nearer to my place, at Giant Tampoi. So there is a high possibility for me to recce that specific eating place soon.

Thanks to Mr. Ridzuan, my newly found gastronomic adventurer, for the recommendation and the treat as well. Looking forward to the next adventure and for the next outing, it will be my turn.

JOINING ANOTHER ACTIVITY WITH THE SENIOR CITIZENS

29TH NOVEMBER 2025    ~ I was at Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas (PAWE) [TRANSLATE: Senior Citizens Activity Centre located in Ungku Mohsin. I was actually with PAKK group [Children Activity Centre]. I am not yet in the senior citizens category yet.

This was another activity under another unit of Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) [TRANSLATE: Welfare Department].The main objective was to bridge interaction between the aging people with the young through the activities carried out.

After breakfast, the first activity was aerobics exercise.

I did not even know I was to take part in the carrom games that morning.

The small kids called me "grandpa" already.

I even took home a consolation prize.

It was good to be involved earlier and I now know where to go or what to do if one day I get bored at home.
