ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION AT MAJESTIC HOTEL KUALA LUMPUR - PART TWO

21st SEPTEMBER 2025    ~ The wedding reception was done in Contango Restaurant in Majestic Hotel. The main agenda of the event: to wish the newlyweds and enjoy the buffet spread for the high tea. For once, there were no frills of the traditional Malay wedding reception. As long as there was good food, a lot of it, we were alright with that.

Puan Adura Adnan [who is an ex-schoolmate of SMS Muar] held an intimate kind of reception. Therefore, the number of people invited was limited. Only two ex-schoolmates were invited, Puan Hafizah and I, and we were privileged to be included in her small circle of friends and relatives.

It was quite impossible to eat everything on the buffet counters but I tried my very best to choose food that was rare and fancy.

We stayed there for about 1 hour and a half and had to bid our kind host our "goodbyes" or else we would still get more food, The temptation was too difficult to resist when everything looked delicious [and expensive].

Congratulations to Puan Adura Adnan on the addition of the new member into the family. Thank you again for the special invitation to the special event, and we were truly touched by her kind gesture.

ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION AT MAJESTIC HOTEL KUALA LUMPUR - PART ONE

21st SEPTEMBER 2025    ~ Puan Adura Adnan, an ex-schoolmate [of SMS Muar] threw a wedding reception for her daughter, the first time in the family. The event was held at Majestic Hotel, right in the heart of metropolitan city, Kuala Lumpur.

A few people had already told me before going that Majestic Hotel was an accommodation with a class on its own. I could already feel the vibe when I was greeted at the door by someone who was dressed in a costume of the British colonial era.

I took a Grab from my hotel in Subang Jaya and arrived 40 minutes earlier. My other ex-schoolmate/ex-classmate, Puan Hafizah Mohd. Noor, and her family also arrived a few minutes after. One good thing, we could explore the place and admire its beauty and grandeur.

We even went up to the first floor to get a glimpse of the Orchid Conservatory Room. Unfortunately, the was an event in progress so we could not enter. We were told by the staff outside the room that we could get into the place prior to registration for the afternoon tea session.

Other than roaming around the place, we also managed to get ourselves photographed with the bride and groom, and the proud mother of the bride as well. That was a wise decision as she got extremely busy as guests started to stream in.

This post featured the activities that took place outside the hotel restaurant, before and after the reception. More detailed report coming your way of the reception session in Cotango Restaurant.

THE POST WEDDING RECEPTION GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE IN SHAH ALAM

21st September 2025    ~ Even after the heavy buffet lunch that happened during a wedding reception in Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, I still reserved one small space in my tummy for the next gastronomic adventure with Mr. Norazman. The chosen venue this time was Murni Discovery, a restaurant in Shah Alam, which name sounded more like a science centre rather than an eating place.

I took a Grab car from the hotel and Mr. Norazman was already waiting for me there. The place must be popular as there were still many diners after 2:30 p.m.

I opted for something light and chose Mushroom Soup and my friend wanted to have the restaurant's signature dish which was actually Fried Mee Hoon [TRANSLATE: vermicelli].

It was a short chat session before Mr. Norazman drove me back to my hotel in Subang Jaya. Looking forward to another outing at another eating place, time unknown.

ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF MS. SHAFIYAH AB RAHIM

The wedding venue this time was at Anjung Putri, Taman Putri in Kulai. It was the wedding reception of Ms. Shafiyah Ab. Rahim, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti.

I was greeted by the bride's elder brother and sister at the entrance as I arrived. Both of them are also my ex-students whom I taught English in school.

I just met a few ex-students and a mother of an ex-student at the event.

In the family, 8 out of the 10 siblings attended the same school. Hence, a school reunion took place at the reception. of the family.

Congratulations to Ms. Shafiyah and her husband. May your marriage be filled with love and laughter throughout. There will be possibilities for me to invited again by this family to a similar event in the future.
