VISITING DUSUN TOK DIN HOMESTAY IN THE ORCHARD - THE BUS HOUSE

The first type of accommodation available at Dusun Tok Din Homestay was the Bus House. A bus was converted into a complete house would be suitable for a small family of about four people. The children would be excited to get to stay in this Bus House.

What does the Bus House provide?
  • 2 Queen Beds
  • 1 Bathroom
  • Living Area
  • Swimming Pool
  • Television
  • Mini Fridge
    Microwave and Kettle
  • Sink
  • Air-Conditioners
I myself would love to experience living in a bus for once.

A LUNCH DATE AT GOLDEN PILLOW, TAMAN DAYA

The lunch at Golden Pillow in Taman Daya was to celebrate my winning for the Recycling Competition organized by SWM. The person who was chosen as the date was Mr. Ariff Nizam, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti. We had actually planned to come to this place much earlier but only today Mr. Ariff had the right time to get our [late] lunch.

the open dining area

There are two dining areas: the air-conditioned one or the open area.

We had our Golden Pillow which was a gigantic bread bun and inside was filled with mutton curry. You could also opt for chicken if you don't fancy mutton. The staff would cut the bun for the customers at the table.

One piece of bun could be shared by two people but we had a piece each. I would be happy to skip dinner after finishing the whole thing on the plate.

a very busy career man

THE  VERDICT: The mutton curry was super delicious, but must be eaten when both the bread and gravy were still hot. I don't think the taste would remain the same once they were already cold.

The place opens at 12:00 noon every day which means you could not eat the bread for breakfast. There are also other food choices like all kinds of rice variety dishes.

I would definitely come back to this place with other friends some other time. I now have a new eating place to go to when there are visitors in town.

FROM THE BOX INTO THE POTS

A package was placed beside the front door and I realized its presence early in the morning as I was coming home from the "surau" [TRANSLATE: small mosque] on Sunday morning, 30th June 2024.

The name of the sender was not written on the box or anywhere but I could easily guess who the sender was. There were six packets of Rain Lily plants couriered straight to my house by a friend who also shares the same passion.

Only two days after opening the box, I had the opportunity to transfer the plants into the pots. I actually bought the pots from the nursery near my house on Sunday evening, and I still have organic soil stock at home.

I managed to do complete the task and prayed that it would not rain before I finished my job. It had been raining these few days here and gardening would not be something possible when it rained non stop. It is now time to pray for the plants to grow healthily and bloom later.

the expected blooms

Thanks again to Puan Sharon Taty Mokhtar, a friend of UPM TESL Class of 1993, for sending me the plants. And this was not the first or second time she did that. Only Allah may repay your kind gesture.

ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION OF A FRIEND'S SON IN KUANTAN, PAHANG

29th JUNE 2024    ~ After attending the engagement ceremony last year [READ HERE] and the reception of the bride's side last week [READ HERE] in Pasir Gudang, I was now in Kuantan for the reception of the groom's side. Puan Suriana Ali, an old friend of UPM TESL class of 1993, held the reception for his son at Kimstone Hall in Beserah.

As usual, some friends from the TESL group were there too. Two members were the residents of Kuantan while others came all the way from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor one was from Negeri Sembilan and the other one from Kelantan.

Wedding receptions are always the venue for us to get reunited once in a while. Now that I am already retired, I am always looking forward to attending one and travel to other places at the same time.

We enjoyed both the good food and the company of old friends for about two hours, before bidding farewell to each other.

Congratulations to Puan Suriana on the addition of the new [Johorian] member in the family. Hope to be back in Kuantan one day if invited again for other similar event.
