GARDENING DURING THE MCO PERIOD

24th MARCH 2020 ~ This gardening project was done in the closest proximity to the front door of my house during the Movement Control Order (MCO), or any other relevant names given, of the corona virus outbreak.

I found these packets of vegetable seeds in the drawer and so happened I had stock of organic soil bought earlier from the nursery. The first step was to cut the two huge water bottles I had at home and reuse them as the temporary pots. After cutting the plastic containers into half, I had to drill a few holes at the bottom so as to allow extra water to flow out of the soil.

To make long story short, the seeds were safely sowed in the pots and let's wait and see whether this project will be successful. Hope I could have my own vegetables in the garden really soon. And I have 21 long days to carry out my observation and at the same time to find other things to do to occupy my time. *sigh*

ENDLESS PHOTO SHOOT SESSION AT TEBING LANGIT

26th JANUARY 2020 ~ This should be a new developed tourist spot in Batam. I used to see people posting their photos with all kinds of poses possible here. when I arrived here, again, the most important things are good photographer, good camera (phones) or good photo editing skills. Then only you will get superb products to be posted on social media.

Tebing Langit was a small hill with shrubs and small trees, not yet a forest, which should provide some sort of scenic view of the island from the top. There were a few spots for you to position yourself for photo sessions and you might need to do some climbing activities here and there. Definitely not suitable for the elderly and people with knee problems.

If you are an avid Instagrammer or Facebooker who love to be photographed for your followers out there, then this should be the place to drop by when you are in Batam.

VISITING BAITUSYAKUR MOSQUE IN BATAM

26th JANUARY 2020 ~ There was this mosque near the hotel opposite the McD outlet just across the road. We decided to visit the holy building, Baitusyukur Mosque, after we finished breakfast.

There were only a few people doing their work there that morning. When I went into the main hall, I was welcomed and greeted by one of the locals and he even took me on a short tour around the mosque.

One interesting thing about this place was that there were seven mysterious/unidentified graves on the second floor of the building. It is believed that these graves were of the ancestors of the islander which had been there even before the mosque was constructed. There was effort to relocate the graves but it was in vain.

It was good as the mosque was clean and well taken care of, the way it should be done.
