BREAKFAST WITH THE MONITOR - MR. RIDWAN [PART 2]

22nd JANUARY 2024 ~ Before leaving Johor Bahru, Mr. Ridwan and family went for the last gastronomic adventure with me. This time, I introduced him to the restaurant I frequently go to get my food in the morning, Anamir Restaurant, in Kampung Melayu.

I met with my secondary school teacher, Mr. Roger, who was in SMK Sultan Ismail many years ago, eating breakfast there too.

That should conclude Mr. Ridwan's trip to Johor Bahru and this time he was staying a bit longer than usual. Hope to see them and other UPM TESL Class of 1993 friends in Penang next month.

DINNER WITH THE MONITOR - MR. RIDWAN [PART TWO]

21st JANUARY 2024 ~ The gastronomic adventure of the regular visitors from Shah Alam continued with the dinner session. Mr. Ridwan Wahid and family wanted to specifically have Murtabak at the stall in Kampung Melayu so we went there right after Maghrib prayer.

We of course had other variety of food at the stall there but I got Asma Rojak which was the Johor's version of Penang's Pasembor for them to do some comparative work. 😀

One more gastronomic adventure to go the very next morning for breakfast.

BREAKFAST WITH THE MONITOR - MR. RIDWAN [PART ONE]

21TH JANUARY 2024 ~ The breakfast spot visited this time was yet again Selera Johor. There could be reasons why this place had become a favourite: stalls selling all kinds of Johor delicacies under one roof, easy parking, and the cleanliness of the food court.

Mr. Ridwan, the wife and daughter chose to have Mee Rebus, Laksa Johor, Kacang Pool and Fried Banana. While I first picked my favourite Cekodok Pisang [fried mashed banana + flour] and later went to buy Sate.

Unfortunately I could not accompany the family for their next gastronomic adventure for lunch as I had had other planned things to attend to. I was not worried though as they already knew some of the places where to find good food already. However, there would be the next dinner date in the evening.

A MEETING WITH AN EX-COLLEAGUE WHICH HAD BEEN LONG OVERDUE

Believe it or not, I had been planning to visit an ex-colleague of SMK Mutiara Rini, Mr. Aidil Bohari, for many years already. For some reasons, only today we managed to meet each other even though we were not actually separated by distance.

It was a short meeting that lasted about an hour in Secret Recipe in Taman Mutiara Mas. It was good to keep ourselves updated with the life events and hopefully we could see each other again after this.

DINNER WITH THE MONITOR - MR. RIDWAN [PART ONE]

   20th JANUARY 2024    ~ Mr. Ridwan Wahid [a friend of UPM TESL Class of 1993], his wife and daughter were in town again. Within a very short notice, a dinner date was set and this time I suggested a place they had never been to - Banafee Restaurant.

I think they liked the food there, just by looking at the choices of food that arrived for us.

This was just the beginning though, more gastronomic adventure was yet to happen the next day and the day after that.

A SHORT VISIT TO PUAN ROKIAH JUNOH'S HOUSE

21ST JANUARY 2024 ~ I went to visit Puan Rokiah Junoh, an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, at her house in Taman Nusantara. The main reason was to pass to her some rambutan from the tree behind house and my retirement mug.

It was just a short stay as it was getting late, but I am sure there will  be longer meeting with Puan Rokiah and her husband soon.

THE COFFEE SESSION AFTER THE WEDDING RECEPTION

20TH JANUARY 2024 ~ A coffee session was planned with four other friends/ex-colleagues of SMK Taman Universiti after attending a wedding reception in Eco Botani [READ HERE]. The chosen cafe was Manzanita which was very near to the wedding venue. My first visit to Manzanita was the one located in Paradigm Mall.

Good coffee and pastries, and a place with an awesome ambience for people to eat, drink and chat. And there is a spot for photoshoot too.

We had to go our separate ways before it got dark and hopefully we could do this again some other time soon.
