The Ximen area is sometimes known as Ximending. The suffix "ding" is actually a Japanese word which means "area" or "territory", as told by my walking tour guide. This shows the strong influence to the Japanese to the city.
The easiest way to get to Ximen from other areas would be to take the BLUE or RED line Metro and stop at Ximen Station. The nearest exit to the pedestrian walk is Exit 6.
I found this stall selling a particular kind of drinks quite frequently around town and many people queued up to buy sometimes. If I am not mistaken, it is bitter gourd mixed with honey. My favourite outlet would be the one selling ice-shaved mango.

This man was selling a toy that could dance to the beat of the music, some kind of magic it seemed. I will post the video later.

The wheat noodle stall was another popular eating place. People just simply sat outside the shop to eat as there were not enough seats for everybody.
I managed to get a few key chains from a lady selling them on the street which were much cheaper than those sold in the shops. She was excited when I asked to get a photo together.

Make sure you drop by at Ximen when you are in Taipei. There are so much to see here - and to shop, eat or be entertained.
