21ST NOVEMBER 2024 ~ The initial intention of stopping in Changlun, Kedah, was to get the insurance and other documents ready for the immigration so that we could cross over to Thailand. While in the agent's office, I decided to give an old friend of UPM TESL Class of 1993, Puan Sharon Taty Mokhtar, who is residing there, a call, to just notify her of my whereabout.
Puan Sharon, howeever, suggested that we met for a short while before we continued our journey. At the same time, we had to get lunch at 3:00 p.m. so we just obliged.
The unplanned gathering of three UPM TESL friends [and their family members] then happened at Mak Cik Tomyam Petro Restaurant.
The food here was good and I loved both my Kuew Tiaw Soup and Cucur Udang. Will definitely come here again if I am back in Changlun.
Too bad we could not stay long here for the fear of the closure Malaysia-Thai border at 6:00 p.m. Thanks a lot to Puan Sharon Taty Mokhtar and her husband, Mr. Mahadi Naina Mohamed, for hosting our very first gastronomic adventure of the road trip, despite the very last minute announcement and the fact that Puan Sharon Taty was recuperating from her sickness. May we see each other again, in Changlun or somewhere else.
