19th October ~ Chatuchak Market is recognized as one of the biggest weekends markets in the world, at least by Lonely Planet. We had to plan to come here on this very exact that as it is only operational on weekends.
My verdict: the market too big and the visitors too many. Unless you have something specific to buy, then you would have a hard time deciding as every local Thai product looked too tempting. We just spent our time walking and looking around and we did not even cover half of the market area.
The market is actually divided into many sections, each section selling similar item. You could get a brochure which contains a map of the market to ease your movement around. We got ours from one of the food vendors when we were asking where we could get halal food.
