20th DECEMBER 2024 ~ After we were done with shopping at Padang Besar in Perlis, we crossed over back to the state of Kedah. This time we had a late lunch date with another ex-colleague of SMK Dato' Jaafar, Puan Salwani Ismail, in Changlun. The chosen venue by the hosts was Dusun Riffaa, the huge restaurant in the orchard.
Puan Salwani, who had just finished her duty in school in the afternoon, was already waiting for us in the orchard. I was already impressed by the first sight of the eating place. Here, there was a system where you first had to make your order from the menu in one spot and then go to the counter to make the payment.
Then you got to find the best seats and there were variety of seating arrangements. The dining area was big and not just at one specific place. There were already many people occupying the eating area for lunch when we arrived.
Once your order was ready, your name will be announced on the restaurant's PA system i.e. the loud speaker. Everybody there would know your name by then. After that, you had to go and pick it up at the counter and bring to your table.
I found the food was good and the price of the [big] fish was reasonable, in fact cheaper than my hometown.
There was a small stall selling toys near our dining area. This was the strategy to get the parents to buy their children something before/after eating.
Other than that, there was also a shop selling all kinds of snacks and processed food. I found some Thai products on the shelves too.
Beside the restaurant, there was a small river and visitors could swim in the water. One could also opt to stay in the accommodation available.
I could see buildings under construction in the area, which means the place was still expanding. One place that I would recommend to go for meal in Changlun, especially when you are with your family.
My gastronomic adventure with my two ex-colleagues did not end there yet, as we decided to get dessert right after.
