ARRIVING AND TAKING THE BOAT TO VENICE

20th OCTOBER 2024    ~ At about 11:00 a.m., we arrived to the second destination in Italy. After parking the vehicles, we then took a boat to get to one of the piers which should save more time. Venice was a car-free zone so it was either walking or traveling on water.

The weather was not that good that morning, it was drizzling and the sky was grey. Even the sea water was a bit choppy.

The boat ride took about 20-30 minutes, I could not remember exactly. But the seats were not that comfortable and narrow leg space which should be bad news for long-legged people.

We arrived at the pier and once we got out of the boat, I could already see a big crowd in the open space.

What was my first impression of Venice upon arrival?
1. Too touristy - just like London, Bali and Hong Kong. Tourists were just everywhere.
2. Too many shops. Not only there were shops in the buildings, but they were also kiosks and stalls set up selling souvenir items.

Since there were 23 people in our group, we then had to go separate ways touring the city. We would then meet up again at the parking area by 5:00 p.m.
