20th DECEMBER 2024 ~ From Alor Setar, Kedah, we crossed over to another state, Perlis, just to visit the morning market there. The special feature of the market was that the business was carried out under the shades of the rubber trees. The market was known among the locals as Nat Pokok Getah which was located in Pauh, Arau.
Miss Siti Khadijah Ibrahim, my ex-colleague of SMK Dato' Jaafar, and I, just walked around the place, hoping to busy something special or unique from this place.
The were a lot of stall selling food items, like food for breakfast and traditional/local snacks. Then there were fish, seafood, poultry, fruits and vegetables.
freshwater fish still alive |
horseshoe crab |
emping beras - rice flakes+grated coconut the only food I bought |
It was like another Pasar Tani [translate: farmer's market] and we were informed that the market was more interesting if you come on Sunday. On one hand, there was not much that could be bought. On the other hand, we decided to go to another place where real shopping would happen.
