ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION IN SUNGAI PETANI, KEDAH

17th MAY 2025    ¬ The wedding reception today took place in Institut Kemahiran Mara [IKM} in Sungai Petani, Kedah. It was the reception of the son of Puan Suhana Abdul Jamal, a friend of UPM TESL Class of 1993. I happily flew all the way from Johor Bahru to be there.

A few of our friends had actually attended the reception done for the bride's side in Kuala Lumpur the month before. Hence, only the northern people were there [except me].

Congratulations to Puan Suhana and Mr. Fakhrul on the addition of the new member into the family. May we be invited again for other receptions in the future.

It was another fun time getting reunited with old friends who are residing in Kedah and Penang. Hoping we could see each other again in similar event like soon.

THE NIGHT MARKET AT BAYAN LEPAS REVISITED

17th MAY 2025    ~ After attending the wedding in Sungai Petani, Kedah, [READ HERE] I had to cross over to Penang as I need to catch my flight home from Penang Airport. As usual, I had a stopover at a friend's house in Bayan Lepas. With a few hours more to kill, Puan Aishah Aboo Bakar and her husband decided to visit the Pasar Malam [translate: Night Market] near their house in Jalan Mahkamah.

This was my second time here at the Pasar Malam. The first time I visited this weekly market was back in 2023. [READ HERE]

As for the lovely husband-and-wife couple, they had not been at this place for many years and they made a comeback as there was a visitor and they had to play hosts. 😀

Even though Penang is always flocked by tourists all year long, this place was not an attraction to them. I think I was the only [local] tourist at that time who was busy taking photos.

There were so many things on sale and the temptation to buy the food items was hard to resist. We ended up buying a variety of delicacies from the stalls for dinner to bring home.

Thanks again to Puan Aishah [a friend of UPM TESL Class of 1993] and Mr. Arif for the short trip to Pasar Malam. We should do this again, perhaps at other venues in Penang when I make a return trip in the future.

AN UNPLANNED WEDDING RECEPTION IN KUALA LUMPUR OF PEOPLE NOT RELATED TO ME

27TH APRIL 2025    ~ Here I was in Dewan Tun Rahah at Yayasan Tun Razak Building in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, attending an unplanned wedding reception of people who were not related to me. The reason: I was tagging along my [UPM TESL class of 1993] friend, Puan Hayati Burkhan and her husband after attending another reception earlier [READ HERE]. The host was actually a friend of Puan Hayati's husband.

I was truly impressed with the wedding venue. A fully carpeted huge hall which boasted luxury as I entered the dining area. Location wise, the building was situated in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur and not many could afford to hold a reception here.

We were still full from the feast at the first reception attended right before, and at the same time there was not much food left at this place. We could be the few latecomers for the event. I still have to thank Puan Hayati Burkhan and Mr. Amin for taking me to this place, which could be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have doubt I would be setting foot here another time.
